Modest Mouse's "Moon and Antarctica" headed for vinyl reissue

Modest Mouse will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their most beloved album, 2000's The Moon and Antarctica, with a deluxe vinyl reissue set for Record Store Day, April 17, 2010. According to a Pitchfork report, the record has been remastered using the band's preferred 2004 master, but contains only the original tracklisting, not the extras found in the CD release of that edition. It will also feature the original artwork and the locked groove found at the end of the first side.

I want a new full length. I thought We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank was just as good as this album.

This is one of least favorite Modest Mouse albums. I was disappointed when it came out. They should re-issue Lonesome Crowded West sometime soon. That's one of my favorite albums of all time.

I love what I've heard of Modest Mouse but being a bandwagon jumper I've only got the last two. How long is this album in reality, like does it drag at all?

It's about an hour long. I've always thought the stretch from "The Cold Part" up through "The Stars Are Projectors" was overly long, although I like the songs individually. Whole album's pretty great, although "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" is my favorite by far.

Agreed. "Stars Are Projectors" is probably my favorite on the album, though. Good News does rule. I'm glad that someone else who is familiar with their old work appreciates that album as much as I do.

If you like the more poppy-side of their last two albums, you probably won't like too much of their old stuff. Then again, if you want to listen to some 5-7 minute songs that have some strange guitar and vocals and "natural" (i.e. sorta shitty) production, then you might like the old stuff. I love Lonesome Crowded West and the Moon and Antarctica...good indie albums for sure. They definitely polished their sound and production when Good News came out.

It can drag, depending on your mood. But for the most part, it's great. If you're going to check it out, though, don't expect a sunny album like their more recent output.

Maybe I should go into detail.

I love The Moon And Antarctica. It's one of my favorite records. I love it so much that I'm afraid that any other album might taint/ruin my love for this album
