And just to clarify, Red Scare will be around as long as I'm alive, I just don't know if we can keep investing in the scene and keep developing new bands. Others out there will pick up the torch maybe, I dunno. But unless that global trade agreement thingy comes to pass (the name escapes me, something like ASCA?), we can't keep investing in new bands. I'll probably post my thoughts about the whole thing one of these days...

But fuckin' A, this record is pretty much the best I think I will hear in 2010. It's a fuckin' masterpiece. Really honored to be involved.

I'll support and appreciate indie labels to the bitter end, but that doesn't alter the fact that means of distributing media are changing forever. But it'll all settle out in a few years, things will re-organize into something different but comparable, it'll be all right.

While I agree with you about how bands and labels need to do a better job of prioritizing packaging and music quality, I don't like the idea of having to resort to triple-gatefold LPs on 7 different colors in order to make ends meet. I've used this analogy to to death, but I hate that the vinyl craze has turned the punk scene into collecting Beanie Babies. I'd rather not release music than resort to that stuff. I just re-pressed Teenage Bottlerocket's "Warning Device" LP...on glorious black vinyl!

Point taken and agreed. In the end I actually prefer good heavy black 180gm anyway. It was more of an example of how a little extra effort and creativity can make the difference between selling nothing and selling out the stock. There are other things you can do analogous to the aforementioned ANb disc that don't require huge production investments.

I don't predict, I know because it's my bread and butter. I never like to delve too much into my personal life on this board, but I can assure you that I have extensive and intimate experience with, and knowledge of, how laws trying to regulate copyright, privacy and obscenity issues have played out technologically for the last couple decades. Do just a little bit of reading about software piracy, cracking and kiddie porn in the 1990s and get back to me.

I, like most I imagine, couldn't be less interested in what you do, especially if you're inferring that your uploading of copyrighted material has somehow all of the sudden become legal.
The problem currently is one of letting ISPs be an accessory to theft with impunity. And if you think that situation is going to continue status quo forever then you're beyond naive and way more uninformed than you realize.

Is the U.S. federal government in danger of being found complicit in drug trafficking because its highways are used by some for that purpose? No. The proposition is ludicrous and would be impossible to enforce.

ISPs are desperate for you to THINK they might be in legal danger so they have an excuse to make bandwidth-throttling "status quo." But net neutrality is an issue for another day...

It was the drummer of the band, from what I've heard. I think it actually is really smart, people searching for the leak will keep running into that and give up and (hopefully) buy it. I don't know why you'd actually listen to the 10 seconds of each song though, I was blueballed both times I heard the beginning of the first song, that's enough disappointment for me.

Personally I just use the term as a figure of netspeech; it's an easy way to warn posters not to reply to the aggressive prick "trolling" for negative reactions, thereby validating his/her behavior and drawing them back for more.

Plus, "troll" is a slightly nicer word than "sociopath," and it's easier to type.
