Napalm Death to begin recording next album in May

In a new interview, pioneering grindcore outfit Napalm Death talked about plans for the band's next album. Vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway had this to say:

We will be starting more or less from scratch in January 2011 making a new album and will record in May. Don't read that wrong - it doesn't take us that much time to get our stuff together, it's just that Russ Russell, our producer, has his hands full until May. It does seem a while since "Time Waits…", but we recorded the previous few albums in quick succession so thought we'd hold back for a change. Time can indeed fucking wait.

The band released Time Waits for No Slave in 2009.

Naplam death have a tendency to release one boring album then one kick ass album. So considering the last album was pretty awesome, I wonder if this one will be boring?

You think so? I think the last decade is the most consistent they've ever been. Not the best mind you (nothing will ever beat the Dorian/Steer/Harris/Embury days) but "Enemy of the Music Business," "Leaders Leaders Not Followers," "Time Waits For No Slave" "The Code Is Red..." and "Smear Campaign" have all been real high quality.

Well, I didn't really like LLNF but I loved Time waits, I didn't really like The code is red but I love Smear Campaign.

I mean even their more boring efforts are still better than most metal acts.

I can see your point. Of the 2000's stuff I have (never picked up Order of the Leech) those two are my least favorites, "Code" starts off absolutely amazing but runs too long. Still though, ND covering Die Kruezen, Anti-Cimex, Discharge, Gauze and all those others is pretty awesome.
