The Lawrence Arms, Sundowner added to to Asian Man 15th Anniversary

The Lawrence Arms and Sundowner have been added to the growing lineup of artists slated to perform at the Asian Man Records 15th Anniversary Party in San Francisco, CA next June. The two acts join already-confirmed groups such as The Queers, MU330, Bomb the Music Industry!, The Sainte Catherines, Andrew Jackson Jihad and a slew of others.

i'm down. my influences are midwestern emo and manchester post punk from the late 70's, early 80's. oh, and i also love shoegaze and ambient loops, sooooooo if we could somehow get a good mix of all that then were set.

it might be good if we through in some horns as well...

i was being sarcastic for the post, but i really would like to make music with those influences somehow. i might start up my own laptop/desktop project when i get my own place next month. so many artists are making music like this nowadays, it's driving me crazy to do it myself. i guess to hear my own sounds or something to that effect. shoot, all i ever post on my blog is that type of music anyway...

I've been apart of the electronic/ambient/shogaze/indy/noise scene for many years. Good luck finding anyone who wants to watch you sit and play on your laptop at a show. Laaaame.

Get some real equipment and learn how to play it man.

well, and i know this is whatever, but i mostly want to make the music for myself. i have this obsession with listening to certain tunes and soundwaves. i'll make my own and probably just jam out with myself. i'll post my stuff and share it with everybody just to do that though. i don't even own a laptop...

I'm sure eventually alkaline trio will be confirmed. Doind a simalr set to the one they did on "the occult roots" tour. I'm just guessing. If I could afford it, just chinkees alone would be enough to convince me, at this point.

I'm guessing you never had tgo see riverfenix aka fenix tx or ...and you will know us by the trail of dead. I literally slept on the couch in the club during those sets.

Both of those were bad, though fenix tx wasn't bad when i saw them with new found glory and good charlotte opening. the "reunion" tour or whatever it was with allister was fucking horrid though. They fought with each other, fucked around, played a set from their side project or whatever it was and basically wasted an hour+ of my life. Trail of the dead was just a waste of time when i saw them, the only excitement at all was when they trashed the equipment and that seemed like "oh yeah, we have to smash our shit because that's what everyone is expecting"

as for falling asleep at a show, i'm pretty sure Lisa Loeb saw me nodding off at one of her shows (i think there was like 50 people there so it was hard not to stand out) and i fell asleep during the Lunachicks when they opened for Rancid back in 95

i remember their reunion tour. the singer was so drunk he couldn't play and the rest of the band walked off stage halfway through their set. probably like 30 people there for them tops.

If I wasn't standing upright (and hadn't received an energy shot from Gogol Bordello), I would have certainly dozed off during Primus. I was blindsided by how monotonous their performance was.

I nodded off three times watching Soul Coughing's Mike Doughty opening for Barenaked Ladies (don't judg-...okay, you can judge me). The nightmarish factor was that since all of his damn songs sounded exactly the same, I wasn't sure if I was asleep for one song or three. I honestly felt like I was stuck in some sort of horrible time loop of jaunty college rock. :(

I think Primus is an absoloute aquired taste. I completley understand why some people find it boring, and even perhaps shit, but I think its amazing and would kill to see Primus. They've still never toured the UK, although I know Les has come through on some side projects.

oh and 12/27 the Suicide Machines are playing the Shelter in Detroit to benefit the family of one of their founding members (Bill Jennings) who died recently leaving a wife and 2 kids. Royce and Derek will be playing a few songs! $12 min donation doors at 7

not sure, they started posting the show on facebook this morning and Royce posted that him and Derek were involved is all i know. My old roommate's band is playing as well so i'll see if he knows what happened
