Media: The Kills: “Satellite”

The Kills, which includes Alison Mossheart of Discount and The Dead Weather, have posted a new song from their next album. The duo will release Blood Pressures on April 5, 2011. It is the follow-up to Midnight Boom which was released in 2008.

Holy shit, I hadn't heard the name Discount since that Punk Bites 2 compilation. I've only ever heard the one song, are they worth checking out past that song?

They were fucking awesome, and had great progression throughout their career as well. "Half Fiction" was the pop classic, but "Crash Diagnostic" was some next level shit for sure. They threw in the towel way too soon. Still remember catching them at The Cocadrie in San Francisco back in 1998, and on their UK tour. So glad I got to see them a few times. The Kills is a fucking joke. I'm guessing drugs fucked her up.

Agreed. Their first album, while a bit immature (they were like 16 for fuck's sake) was pretty good, a few great songs. Half Fiction was perfect. Crash Diagnostic took a few listens to grow on me but I ended up loving the shit out of that album. Math won't miss you is one of the best songs ever.

I remember my friend talking up this really young band he was setting up a show for in Cleveland. I had no idea who they were but he said they were like 16 and awesome. So I ended up seeing them and My Pal Trigger, probably around 1997 or so. They were awesome then. Also got to see their very last show in Gainesville with True North around 2000-01. Fucking amazing. I was really drunk and I cried a little. /true fuckin' story.
