Chixdiggit (Europe)

Canada's Chixdiggit! have announced their second European tour in six months with an upcoming April/March trip overseas. The long-running Calgary, AB-based pop-punk outfit will release a new EP entitled Safeways Here We Come on February 15, 2011 via Fat Wreck Chords. Once out, it'll be the band's first release of all-new material since Pink Razors way back in 2005.

i need to go back and give Pink Razors another shot, their first few albums were amazing but that one didn't really catch me one way or the other

Do North American punk bands really make enough money to tour Europe like this? I can't imagine flying four guys and all their gear overseas (and back again) is cheap and I also can't imagine a band like Chixdiggit is going to play in front of enough people to make this pay off. I mean, am I missing something? You'd think they wouldn't even come close to breaking even, right? What do I know though, I could be way off here.

They probably have to pay for their own flight and either borrow or rent gear. When all is said and done, the promoters might make a little bit of money, and the band breaks even (with merch sales and guarantees covering the flights). The great thing about most Euro stops is they take care of food and lodging for the bands (unlike most American show promoters, not all, but most). It ends up being a nice vacation. I guess a band like Chixdiggit could essentially lose a little bit of money on the deal, but you have to admit that it's a nice way to see parts of a beautiful continent.

Plus, don't forget Euros and Pounds are stronger than dollars, especially Canadian dollars.

Completely false. The Cad/Euro and CAD/GBP exchange rates are close to the highest they've been in decades. USD is doing fine as well, way up from 2008.
