Casey Royer (D.I., Adolescents, Social Distortion) ODs in front of son

A number of you wrote in with the news that former Social Distortion and Adolescents drummer and current D.I. singer Casey Royer has been arrested and charged with child endangerment and being under the influence of heroin.

According to a CBS Report, Royer was watching television with his 12-year old son when he allegedly overdosed on heroin. His son went to neighbours to get help and the musician was hospitalized. Gossip site TMZ added some details to the story, noting that law enforcement found that the house was littered with garbage and drug paraphernalia -- including needles -- when police arrived.

Let's be clear CBS he wasn't "Watching his son," when he OD. You're not really doing much of anything else. I mean his kid was there but the action of, "watching" or "Caring for" probably didn't occur.

I'm more surprised Social Distortion is referenced here (it appears in the TMZ story where it calls Casey a legend) because his work with them was minimal at best compared to Adolescents. "Current singer of D.I."....the only singer/consistent member of D.I.

The media loves to exaggerate. Saying "punk legend OD's, get's arrested" is a lot more exciting than "this dude was in some bands you might know and he ODd and junk".

This may sound a bit excessive, but parents that drink in front of their children should also be arrested.

I'll also throw this into the argument: Though I haven't smoked in years, I also think marijuana should be completely legalized.

Legalize pot, ban alcohol.... that's my stance. And even if my that came true, I still wouldn't smoke.

And I love alcohol, but hate drunk people. Unless I'm drunk as well.

And I don't do drugs. But hey, it's a person's choice. Clearly he would still be in trouble for endangering a child, but if he wanted to shoot up in his house alone then more power to him.

Surely by "drink" you actually mean "get drunk." Because in the latter case, I sort of agree. If it's the former, though, that's the dumbest shit I've ever heard and you should be compulsorily sterilized immediately and/or your existing children confiscated.

Getting back to the original topic, though, D.I. > Adolescents.

Big ups to the son for going and getting help. Too many peope have died from OD's that could have been saved with prompt medical intervention had their 'friends' not been too scared to act. Hope it is a wake up call to Casey. Kids shouldn't have to do that...

Snort or smoke.... who knows though he could have relasped and o.d.'d. A lot of overdoses occur when someone has been clean for a while and they use the same ammount as they did when they were active users.
