Danzig, Frank Turner, Anti-Flag at Download Festival 2011

This lineup for this year's Download Festival has been unveiled. Along with such Punknews.org favorites as Def Leppard, Linkin Park and Rob Zombie, scheduled performers include Anti-Flag, Frank Turner, Danzig, Funeral For A Friend, Avenged Sevenfold, System Of A Down, letlive., and Silverstein. The entire lineup can be accessed here.

Download Festival will be happening June 10-12 at Donington Park in the UK.

Its sad that I can honestly say that I like more songs by the bands sarcastically listed as "org favorites" than the ones you guys were serious about. I'll take my 80s nostalgia "hysteria" record over any of those bands. As Much as I enjoy SOAD once in a while I'll take white zombie over them any day.

Huge European festivals always have the shittiest lineups imagineable. You know who will set off 100,000 drunk Brits? FUCKIN' BLUR, MOTHERFUCKER! YEAH, BRING THE NOISE!

I like the lineups of "huge european festivals", because the third/fourth/fifth stages still have a lot of care put into their line-ups. I mean, 3 years ago, Gaslight Anthem opened up the Lock Up (punk tent, essentially) and the years after that they played the second and main stages. They get people who actually know what's up when it comes to booking "smaller" bands that organizers in the US just don't care about.

I like the fact that I can cherrypick and see a very wide variety of bands in a weekend.

Hey I'd love to see Alice Cooper. And hey...Pendulum was awesome back when they were just a drum 'n bass/jungle act (just like Black Eyed Peas weren't that bad when they were actually a hip hip group, pre-Fergie...saw 'em at Warped Tour one year.) Let the hate ensue for that last one...

I know saying that the Black Eyed Peas were good before Elephunk makes you seem cool, and gives you some kind of indie cred, but seriously, they were still really shitty...

Not looking for any indie-cred here. I already have all I need, thanks. Seriosuly though, I saw them at Warped and thought they were really good live. They had that whole J5/Dialated Peoples thing going on for them. Eminem (back when he was relevant) and Ice-T also played that same day...great hip hop lineup that year.

Pretty sure Eminem is very relevent. his newest album sold 4 million records in one year which is a big deal in 2011. not that im a huge fan.

In a historical sense, some of the most relevant and infuential music of the last 40-50 years has failed to make even a blip on the charts, i.e. units sold. My Eminem comment was basically just saying that he's not controversial anymore. But yeah, pretty hard to argue with 4 million units sold in this "everything's free" music environment that we're in today.
