Sublime With Rome have posted another song from their forthcoming album on Fueled By Ramen Records. The record is titled Yours Truly and is due out July 12, 2011.

A lot of people think this is a rip off of the skints song, but it turns out this was written before Live.Breathe.Build.Believe. was out and the band got bigger. Around that time, the Skints were still pretty obscure. Either way, I'd go for the Skints song.

This isn't any better or worse than what I remember from the 4 or so "original Sublime" songs I've ever heard. What's with all the backlash?

probably because when a lead singer dies young, of any cause, fans are leery of fronting the same band with a new singer and the same band name. especially since, in this case, brad's family didn't want them doing so.

I _do_ understand -and accept- the tirades against using the name, but musically? same ol' shit as 20 or whatever years ago.

point is, since 99.9% of their target audience knows about the name usage situation, we might as well just say 'meh' and forget this band ever existed in any incarnation.

Brad Nowell's obviously very highly revered among Sublime fans, and Sublime was 'his' band. Taking the name and putting someone new at the helm strikes some people as an insult to his legacy or whatever.
