Media: Whirr: “Home Is Where My Head Is”

Oakland, CA-based Whirr (formerly known as Whirl) have released a new song from their sophomore full length due out on Tee Pee Records. The record is titled Pipe Dreams and is due out March 13th, 2012 The group is a fuzzier, more shoegazed side project from Nick Bassett of Deafheaven.

I've been looking forward to their formal debut for quite some time now. Originally, I picked up their cassette (when they were still known as "Whirl") out of curiosity and was happy I took the chance. I had no idea that Nick from Deafheaven was a part of the band until other publications started covering them just because of that.

Also -- and I honestly don't mean to shameless plug -- but since this is about new Whirr music, I just reviewed another new Whirr track that was quietly unveiled by Tee Pee Records, which is called "Hide." It's heavier and darker than than the above track, reminding me somewhat of Jesu:
