Brooklyn's The National have recorded a song for the Season 2 Game of Thrones soundtrack. Titled "The Rains of Castamere," the song is inspired by George R.R. Martin's beloved A Song of Ice and Fire series tells the story of Lord Tywin Lannister's brutal victory over the House Reyne of Castamere. As you might expect, the song eschews modern instrumentation in order to better fit in the medieval era of the novels.

Bran dies, Cersei dies, Tyrion dies, Sansa marries the Hound, Littlefinger's conspiracy unfolds and he takes the black. The Others come over the Wall and lay siege on the Castle Black. Everyone starves except for tubby Samwell "The Slayer" Tarly. Stannis wins the Battle of the Blackwater, puts Joffrey's head on a pike and gives the iron throne to Robert's bastard son Edric Storm. Enjoy season 2, 3 and 4 :-)

Evidently Lucero's Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers album title is a Song of Ice and Fire reference. |

I've never seen Game Of Thrones, but why on earth does it have a soundtrack album? I thought that was for shows like The OC and One Tree Hill, that feature lots of music.
