I'm not the kind of person that likes to stream an album before release because I like to be surprised and let the anticipation fully build, but in this case I've heard songs that are such departures from their previous stuff that I had to listen to a decent amount to decide whether I was going to go ahead and buy it. I'm not sure I will, to be honest. I can see it growing on me a bit, but I can also see myself not giving it another listen after four or five listens.
Nothing that I heard has any sense of urgency or any real emotion. It just kind of meanders from one riff to the next, one song to the next.
haha been waiting to use that one? i don't think anything about Baroness is particularly punk but NPR is punk as fuck. you know, since they're so counter-culture and open minded as long as no one disagrees with them.
This American Life is the single greatest piece of media being produced today though.
This record is a huge bummer. I listened to it this morning and don't think I'm even going to bother with a purchase.
