Bayside are streaming their new covers EP which is due out tomorrow. It features versions of songs by Van Morrison, The Ronettes, Del Shannon, Elvis Costello and Billy Joel.

Unnecessary and some of the instrumental choices are questionable, but I love these songs and I love the singer of this band's voice.

I've noticed this with the covers I've heard of Oliver''s Army, people really have trouble singing the notes on "waaaaaay."

i'm not a massive fan of this guy's voice, and i LOVE "oliver's army" so this was set up to fail, but i'm actually quite enjoying it!

it's not a patch on the original, but they did something a little different with it.

that said, i think it's such a strong pop song that it'd take even a real malicious bastard some amount of effort to ruin it.

my old band covered Olivers Army. This version is "eh, it's alright".

My favorite Varn Mannison album is 'Veedon Fleece', favorite Elvin Costelly album is 'Imperial Bedroom' and favorite Billie Joe album is 'The Nylon Curtain'. I don't know if those are strange choices or not. Yours?

Imperial Bedroom is really cool. It may be his only consistent record.

I'm not sure about that...he's released a lot of really strong albums. However, I'm a sucker for Baroque pop, and the classic/orchestral pop feel of 'Bedroom' makes me the happiest. 'King of America' would probably be my second choice.

I meant to specify that I was referring to The Attractions period. I think all of his records have lots of filler, but Imperial Bedroom--though not my favorite--sounds like every song serves a purpose.
