Alkaline Trio have announced the completion of their new album. The band entered the studio in late September and had been recording at Blasting Room Studios in Fort Collins, Colorado with producer Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Rise Against, Hot Water Music). Matt Skiba posted to his Twitter, saying:
The album is their first proper studio album since 2010's This Addiction . In the intervening year, the group recorded a series of alternate versions of classic songs and released them as Damnesia .New record [is] done [and we are] headed to the airport from Ft Collins. The band will play as long as you all keep listening
In addition, members pursued solo releases as well. Skiba released Babylon under the name Matt Skiba and the Sekrets while Dan Andriano released a full length - Hurricane Season - and two 7-inches - Of Peace, Quiet, and Monsters and European Vacation. Drummer Derek Grant also teamed up with Joe Principe (Rise Against), Vic Bondi (Articles of Faith), and Jeff Dean (The Bomb, Noise By Numbers) to form Dead Ending. They released Dead Ending.
A early 2013 release is expected for the album.

Matt Skiba and the Sekrets' record Babylon was basically an All-Matt Alkaline Trio record, and it was really good. The best thing they've done since Crimson.
Alkaline Trio is kind of like your favorite childhood pizza place. When you were younger, you loved it. But now that you are older, and the original owners moved on, and it's under new management, the pizza isn't as good. But shit, it's still pizza, and even when it's bad it's still really good.
