Anthrax have been announced as the headliners for the third annual Metal Alliance Tour, which kicks off this March. On the tour, Anthrax will be performing their classic 1987 album Among the Living in its entirety. The tour will also include Exodus, Municipal Waste and Holy Grail.

who decides which "metal" bands get mention on here and which ones don't? and what criteria do the bands have to meet to be considered punknews "worthy?" seriously. testament was mentioned on here not too long ago. is the average punknews reader a fan of testament? i'm an old metal head and think its cool to see these bands mentioned but than why not also include news on kreator? helloween? death angel? overkill? tankard? and would you include news on those bands and/or others if people submitted it to you? sure you have to draw the line somewhere with a name like punknews.org but then why even start?

Read the site FAQ (if it still exists -- probably was more expedient to just send it down the memory hole than remove the not-for-profit claims).

But to be more specific, I'm thinking the criteria is the band, or the genre, has to be somehow rooted in punk or hardcore. That holds true for thrash, death, doom, alternative- and black metal, plus grindcore and powerviolence. Not so for power metal like Helloween, which is awful horrid suck shit and whose influences are more Dio than Dead Kennedys. Not that Dio is bad. But you'll never find power metal news here because there's no connection at all. Pretty sure there HAS been Kreator and Overkill news here in the past because thrash is closely related to hardcore.

Also Anthrax is by far one of the most punk/hardcore influenced bands to break out from the first wave thrash scene, so I don't see them being out of place on here.

Agreed. Most of the people I know that are my age and like punk also like(d) Anthrax. I don't think they are out of place at all.

Alllriiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhhhtttt metal .I saw anthrax years ago with public enemy .believe it or not they were quite good ,so good in fact that ill be skipping this show .and why is this punk news ?because municipal waste is on the bill .

I'll be going up to Orlando for this. Anthrax was great in South Fla last year with Testament, and I can't pass up seeing Among The Living in its entirety. That was the record that got me into Anthrax and their goofy shorts way back in the day.
