Media: Tim Timebomb and Friends: “Roots Radicals”

Continuing with their ongoing project of posting a song a day, Tim Armstrong's Tim Timebomb and Friends have posted a new recording of the beloved Rancid track, "Roots Radical." The track appeared on ... And Out Come The Wolves and remains one of Armstrong's most well-known songs. The new version slows the track down and adds Transplants bandmate Kevin Bivona on piano and background vocals.

Seriously, I'm not making fun of Tim Armstrong, but have his vocals become sloppier or more sluggish? It sounds like his jaw or lips are sluggish, sort of how Stallone sounds.

Does he have a medical thing, or has the change in vocals in the past two or so years been purely a stylistic choice?

I would guess that it's stylistic. He's become known for his fucked up voice, so making it even more fucked up makes it more distinguishable. Kinda like those pop punk singers that you know could sound good if they tried but they make their voices all whiny and nasally to fit the style.

Nah it's not a medical thing. When you hear him in interviews, he doesn't sound like this. He just thinks it's cool to sing like this, just like he thinks black&white videos are cool.

Who's Tim Armstrong? He's the goddamn Batman.

Tim sounds sleepy, like he took an Ambien before recording. He's doing that thing like the guy from the Strokes where you only put as much force into your voice as to get it past your lips, and no more.

I've been put off a lot of these otherwise quite good tunes he's been doing by the fact he sounds like he's got too much space between his teeth and his cheeks.

In the case of him having a speech impediment I'd be sorry for saying something like that but otherwise, what the hell is going on?

Every Armstrong/Rancid song that gets posted, it's always the same idiots making the same endless comments about Tim's voice.

What's the point, really? Why do you feel the need to keep repeating yourselves? Have you got nothing better to do, nothing positive to contribute other than the same banal dimwitted jibe every single fucking time?
