The correct possessive, even for artists with more than one member, is "its." People tend to use "their" because they consider individual bands plural units, especially when the band name itself is plural.
Theoretically 'their' can be correct in a case where the author does not wish to specify a gender because English lacks a gender neutral pronoun. The other option is to use 'zie' and 'hir.'
That still doesn't make it grammatically correct. Socially acceptable, maybe, but not grammatically correct. You're using a plural pronoun to refer to a singular person.
The 'correct' grammar usage with band names always rubs me the wrong way. Like how "Masked Intruder love you" is correct but it sounds so wrong, and "Masked Intruder loves you" is incorrect but sounds right.
Actually "Masked Intruder loves you" is correct as well. With bands composed of more than one person, singular and plural usage are both valid options, as long as you're consistent. I agree, though: using plural pronouns for bands (eg "Masked Intruder love you") sounds weird & doesn't flow very well.
Yeah, same here. That song is fine right up until that point, then it goes off the rails. I still think I prefer Never Better, but this one is not far behind it.
My favorite song is Get Down, but I like the one with Astronautalis a lot too. Speaking of Astronautalis, isn't he making a whole album with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver guy on track three that most people apparently don't like)? When is that coming out?
If you're comparing P.O.S. to Nas then I think P.O.S. is doing pretty good for himself. I'm sure he would be flattered to be in such company.
If you really want to prove your point then maybe you should mention a bunch of other hip hop albums that you thought were better instead of just the one from someone who is considered one of the best rappers in history.
their?
