Spin is streaming a new song from Alkaline Trio, titled "Torture Doctor." The song is set to appear on the band's upcoming full-length, My Shame is True, due out on April 2, 2013.

Love the verses, but the chorus kills it. "The plot it thickens and grows?" ehh. It's funny because I loved the chorus in Warhol and hated the verses.

They've always been one of my all-time favorite bands, but I kind of fell out of touch when Agony and Irony came out. I'm not sure that's even a thing, since I was 13 when it came out (holy shit, how did those 5 years go by so fast?). Regardless, I'm liking this significantly more.

Why thank you. Yeah, we're a cruelly carnivorous gang of flat-out ridiculous Wal-Mart sheeple breeding Big Mac-eating brats. It blows. Seriously though, I've always gotten along way better with people older than me my entire life. I have no complaints though, as it inevitably landed me to where I am today and I got to skip some of the more embarrassing uber-punx phases and shit like that. Although it did lead to my constant over-analyzation of everything in the world, like I just did. Hrmmm... The more you know.

1) I like it, but "I Wanna Be A Warhol" totally grew on me, and I fucking love that song now.
2) I definitely prefer Skiba songs to Andriano songs. Sue me.
... Skiba's songs are cheesy, but they seem intentionally cheesy. Dan's songs are cheesy, but they seem like they were written to be serious.

Yeah, I was always more of a Skiba guy than an Andriano guy as well. Skiba writes more for the band, hence he ends up contributing more "dud" songs, but overall has provided most of my Alkaline Trio favourites. I also own all major releases from Skiba's side projects, while had very little interest in The Emergency Room.

This song sounds like something off of A&I or This Addiction. The only thing that makes differentiates them is the production. It's more raw sounding than their previous attempts which were really processed and had weird effects (including a fucking brass section?!). I think we will have Bill Stevenson to thank for taking a fairly bad album and turning it into an "eh" album.

this band kind of sounds like alkaline trio. but, like, minus the stuff that made them good. ten years ago. that said I'll still get it. sigh, sucker for punishment. it's getting harder to justify being an alkaline trio fan with every consecutive release.
