Jawbreaker tribute final line-up

and lets us know that Dying Wish Records have announced the official tracklisting for their upcoming Jawbreaker tribute record. The original tracklisting that was announced last month has been updated slightly, with the deletion of Brand New from the lineup and the addition of Nerf Herder, the Gamits, and Lagwagon. These bands, alongside groups like Sparta, Face To Face, The Æffect, and many more are contributing new, previously unreleased Jawbreaker covers [except for Lagwagon and Jeff Ott of Fifteen]. I've seen them many times before, and they totally fucking blow. Why do people like this shit???? Bands today don't owe shit to this crap-ass band. Well... maybe the Drive-Thru bands, who you're claiming my "12" year old ass is in love with. I voiced MY fucking opinion, as just as I suspected, ALL you stupid motherfuckers can't get an "opinion" into your fucking heads. yeah, it's tough to have people disagree with you. Maybe when you become a teenager you'll grow up a little bit. I know it's hard to understand when you're just in what? 7th grade? But by being one of the most infulential bands in punk rock music in the last 15 years Jawbreaker isn't overrated. Just because you don't like somthing doesn't make it overrated. Some day soon you'll start seeing girls in a new way too, just because you don't like them now doesn't mean they're overrated.

I'm not saying Jawbreaker wasn't very influential, and the point about radio and the grammys is moot, because we're talking "underground" music here. People speak of Jawbreaker like they're the second coming of Christ or something, and they aren't(yeah, even though Blake can walk on water). Whenever someone says they don't like this band, they get bombarded by insults, like they're required to love Jawbreaker. That's what I call being overrated. Not liking a band doesn't automatically make someone ignorant.

I think Jawbreaker should be held in the highest regard, my main point was that people who don't like this band shouldn't get as much shit as they do. When I say overrated, I mean that people will blindly jump to conclusions and insult others to defend the band.

The reason those 2 songs are referred to as bonus tracks is that they have both previously been released, but the label wants to include them anyways with all the unreleased covers. Hence, they're a "bonus." -Scott

Jawbreaker is such a tough band to cover because those songs are so influential. I am srue there will be some duds but I am sure there will be some hits. I am particularly excited about the versions by the Gamits, Sparta, Counterfit, and the Lagwagon version already rocks. It should be an amazing compilation.

yes you are right about bigwig being on a small shitty side stage i have unmerry melodies and just cant get into it they played in my area at soem vfw or soemthign liek last year if they came around again and i had nothing better to do i suppose id go but i wouldnt expect to be "blown away"

I dig it, but "Unmerry Melodies" is really not a fair representation of the band. The album is a crappy recording of songs that Tom wrote when he was like 17-18, circa 1995-1996. The past two albums are much much better. Also, he's become a much better singer and guitarist and the other three guys in the band weren't in it when "Melodies" came out. So, while I really like "Melodies" for nostalgia, I don't blame you at all for not getting into it and therefore not really liking them. I think the songs are kind of fun, but not too interesting. But even when they play old stuff live now it sounds pretty different (Pro-Life Taker, for instance). Anyway, I'd just say that that cd is not the best example of Bigwig. They're pretty much a completely different band then they were then. I really like they way they've grown and I think they put on a great live show with the curre

Bigwig's "Ashtray Monument" is going to be fucking dynamite. It's definitely one of the best reasons to get this, instead of just listening to Jawbreaker. You all know that it's going to be TNT, so just admit it and move on. Scott knows it too.

I think any jawbreaker calling this cd bad is way off. who are you to say that a band can't pay tribute to another band that has really influenced them? personally, although i know that NO ONE can play jawbreaker better than jawbreaker, that's not the point... but it's always good to hear someone else's rendition. loosen your sphincter you fuckin tight asses. you might enjoy it. besides, didn't jawbreaker once do a U2 cover album... or was that a REM cover album... you check the history since you're the most hardcore jawbreaker fan
