Tours: Greg Ginn's Black Flag reunion show confirmed

You wanted a legitimate Black Flag reunion. Greg Ginn wants to help cats. Well, check it out:
"Goldenvoice presents: BLACK FLAG "The First Four Years" at The Hollywood Palladium (Hollywood, CA) on Friday September 12. Tickets on sale Saturday June 7th at 10am at Ticketmaster. All proceeds will be donated to cat rescue organizations."
I have confirmed via Goldenvoice that Greg has said that both Dez Cadenza and Keith Morris will be fronting the band. No word on other singers, or who will be on bass or drums. As we get more news, we'll pass it onto you.

Seriously, I'm sick of going to punk shows and having it look like a britney spears concert. I saw Bad Religion recently and they were great, but the crowd was full of highschoolers and teenage girls.......whatever happened to punk being "frightening" music. You can't get down and crazy with some 15 year old girl next to you screaming out the singers name.

It just happens that most "younger people" fit the descriptions. Naturally, it takes time to mature. That is only a stereotype if you try really hard to make it one. Otherwise, its a fact of life. It takes time to grow up. We aren't all born with mature minds, and from pre-school until your death the human mind continues to grow, along with your body and your gut for most of the time. There has to be a difference between a 15 year old and a 20 year old, and a 20 year old and a 25 year old. Or else, what have you learned in the last 5 years of your life? Goodbye!

this is all true and i agree. but you can't tell me that at 15 years old you didn't enjoy going to shows. i know i enjoyed going. people on here sometimes act as if they don't belong there. i think that's completely unfair. and yes, younger people do fit that description but not ALL. the age thing just irks me. sorry.

That's true. When I was 15 I did love going to shows, and I never had a greater time than when I was in a sweaty clubs. Of course, when I was 15, I had ridiculously spiky hair and I danced in the pits like an idiot. But again, it was all youthful innocence and maybe innocence in punk rock is just as good as it being frightening.

Shit, I love having chicks at concerts you fool....just not ones that act like they're at a pop concert...whatever happened to the ominous atmosphere...i would think that most people, let lone little girls, would be afraid to even step in a punk concert.

Awesome....Greg is a mind blowingly original musician.....it's just a shame that Rollins won't be tagging along. He, despite what all you little punker-than-thou highschoolers may think, was Black Flag's premiere vocalist. Without his insane intensity it will be just short of a dream...still awesome though. Keith was great at the Amoeba records show, not sure about Dez, he had kind of a weak voice in the Flag years....but I'm sure Greg will practice the shit out of him. Hey, ya never know, Rollins seems to be on one of his very few breaks in September....so maybe we'll be in for a surprise!

Well....I disagree...I saw BF in So-Cal with Keith, Ron and Dez (and of course Henry)over the years. I and many others thought the Dez era was the best. His voice was in no way weak and BF was at their height when it comes to solid music, and they still had the "scary feel" about the shows. Back then...a BF show was first a rumor..then flyers...then a buzz which brought out fear and lots of police. When Henry came along...it was still ok for a short while but then, to me at least, they became "just another good punk band."

You are correct. Dez was the best, period. The losers who think that Rollins personified BF all got into punk in the mid 80's after it was dead and buried.

I will probably make the trip to California to watch this. Sounds like a lot of hassle, but, not to step into a portal of cliche, Black Flag is what is punk rock for me, and I sure know I am not alone on this. Besides, having to endure Californian climate is not too bad of a trade-off.

Whats so bad about wanting to save cats?? I mean, helping the poor and starvation may be bigger problems, but i doubt Ginn's gonna raise enough money to even put a dent in those problems. This makes me sad. I have a video of Flag in 1983 in Los Angeles and they were fucking electric. Ginn & Dukowski looked like they were going to explode and Rollins was cutting his stomach open with the mic and bleeding all over. I don't want to see the mighty Flag with gray hair, pot bellies and double chins! I just saw a recent picture of Ginn in an interview and he looks just like my step-Dad... Why can't people just let great things rest???

I'm not sure about any Flag is beeter than no Flag. They broke up as hardcore legends that's squeezed every drop out of their band...now they are all looking shabby and will just not have the energy and drive necessary to play that music. I saw Dukowski at Amoeba Records in L.A. and he look like death man. I thought he was 50+ years old...
