CORRECTION: Support For Black Flag Reunion Shows

Our apologies as the earlier information we were submitted was incorrect. Support for both nights of the upcoming Black Flag reunion show is a new band that Greg Ginn is putting together to play the My War album in its entirety. According to SST, the Band will consist of Greg Ginn (Guitar), Dez Cadena (Guitar), My War Bassist Dale Nixon (Bass), Drummer Ducket (Drums) and Mike Vallely of Mike V And The Rats (Vocals). "Dale Nixon" was a pseudonym Ginn used on the album, so take that for what you will... The Friday September 12 show will also include 1208 and Mike V And The Rats. Saturday September 13 will feature Fu Manchu and Good Riddance.

Saw the show last night! Greg and his ego were huge! What happened to ROBO as soon as he was thrown off the drums the show went down hill! We just wanted to hear the first four years! Too much money for such a short show! Disappointed in L.A.

I'm glad that Henry is not involved in this. I saw Black Flag when Dez sang and afterwards many times when Henry sang. I personally liked Dez better at that time period. I want to see Ron Reyes (Chavo). It sucks that Keith Morris pulled out. I saw Dez singing Black Flag songs for the Misfits. Let me tell you, it's not the same.

Dale Nixon is a name that is often used so someone could remain "anonymous". When Brian Baker had his major label contract with Junkyard (ie. Probably couldn't play for another band under contract), he recorded for the 4 on the Floor album as Dale Nixon. So there is the chance that maybe it's someone else who has a record deal? Maybe Mike Watt? That would rule. Or it could be that no one confirmed yet or even just a trick to get people interested.

Wait........wouldn't this make the Rollins thing even MORE of a reunion than this? I mean, Rollins had...other than himself.....chuck, keith, and kira. Plus a slew of awesome special guests which had a lot to do with Flag during it's existence. What does Ginn have? Dez and himself. Dez is great, but no Rollins.

Ginn is Black Flag, so anytime he's playing Black Flag songs it's technically Black Flag.

because he (Ginn) was an egomaniac whose self impression became so huge and bloated after smoking so much pot--that plus the rampant paranoia which excessive dope smoking induces-- made Ginn impossible to work with. Now imagine you're an intense younger guy who steals the spotlight because of looks and ferocity (a la Rollins)and now you know why the hatchet can't be buried in Greg's mind!!

Greg Ginn is and will always be Black Flag. He started the band and ended it. And though he could reunite the band basically with himself and anyone else and still be able to fairly call themselves Black Flag, it would definitely be nice to see a reunion of all former members. I mean, wasn't this thing called "The First Four Years"? Has the name changed? So although it may still be Black Flag...no Morris, Reyes, or Dukowski = no "First Four Years". Fuck, I'd still love to go though. Too bad I live 2,500 miles away.

So far it looks like Black Flag is gonna be: Greg Ginn: guitar, Dez Cadena: vocals, guitar, C'el Revuelta: bass and Robo: drums. Who knows who else may show up but that's the most I've come up with from the news and Ginn interviews I've read. SOMEBODY BETTER BE THERE WITH A CAMCORDER!!!

I was actually really excited about seeing Black Flag, but I have to say it was the Worst show I've ever been to! Mike V sucked, 1208 sucked, and words cannot describe how bad Black Flag sucked. Where was the bass player during My War and the last half of the show? I hope the cats enjoy the 40 dollar scratching post my ticket bought them more than I enjoyed the show. Bait and switch is right(were you the guy with the sign?)

Was anyone else at the shows? I would love to find out what others thought of this show. Anyways, heres my whole opinion of what went down the first night of the supposed "Reunion show". The Black Flag Reunion show was a total RIP OFF! Greg Ginn is a freakin' Joke. I always thought Greg was the brains behind Flag, I was proved that is not true. Nobody showed for the reunion except Greg, Dez, and Robo. Robo didn't even do all the songs, they had to have someone else do some of the songs. They started off by trying to re do the My War album, with pre-recorded bass (Ha Ha) it was awful, and they even started getting Boo'd by the time they finished Black Coffee, What a joke! Next Dez had to try to sing a bunch of the old songs, poor guy, he sounded awful, some people were cheering but I think they were out of pity. Some people came all the way from New York, they said

yup, I came all the way from Michigan. I still don't know what to think. It started off cool, meeting Robo @ Denny's before Friday's show. But yeah, I wasn't too impressed w/ the "reunion". Honestly, I thought Mike V did a better job singing than Dez. C'el can't play for shit, and don't even get me started on the taped bass tracks (milli vanilli anyone?). At least it didn't skip during the show. I didn't even see the opening bands on Saturday (hung out @ Venice Beach instead - fuckin' cool) and didn't even stay for the whole BF set either. I wish I woulda caught Rollins' version of a "reunion" this summer, but oh, well. I spent $1500 on the whole trip, and all I got was a Black Flag shirt w/ a kitty-kat on it. Bummer.

The Rollins reunion was pretty fucking sweet. Though I wish I could have seen Black Flag. By Black Flag I mean Greg Ginn of course. Say what you want about the man, but he's still the band. Plain and simple. Even as bad as everyone seems to put this reunion show he's still the man for all the years of great music he made. I STILL wish I could have been there and not 2500 miles away!

That's fucked up. Very interesting story though. The more I hear about it the more pissed I am that it was that bad. And I didn't even get a chance to go. GODDAMMIT! Ginn can't leave Black Flag like this. It's NOT RIGHT! You know what, now he owes it to all of us to reunite the REAL band members and do a real show. I'm talkin the important members. Ginn, Dukowski, Rollins, Morris, Cadena, Robo, Stevenson and maybe even Ron Reyes if they could get him. I'm serious. This is fucking bullshit. The Dale Nixon idea is something funny to joke about if you know the story behind it and all, but to actually play with pre-recorded bass lines? I have nothing else to say.
