This weekend, Tyler, The Creator was supposed to play the UK for the first time in four years. He was previously banned from entering the UK for three to five years in 2015 by the Home Office. That office stated that the rapper “encourages violence and intolerance of homosexuality” and “fosters hatred with views that seek to provoke others to terrorist acts.”

However, this weekend, just before the show was supposed to take place, Tyler annoucned that the show would be moved before the event was canceled all together. In a now-deleted tweet, Tyler said that the “cops cancelled it” due to overcrowding. By contrast, local authorities have stated that the venue decided to cancel the show, not police, due to disruptive behavior by the audience who were outside the venue hours early.
