Divided Heaven is the acoustic / indie / punk singer-songwriter project of Jeff Berman, an East Coast native living in Los Angeles. singing stories rooted in history and politics, travel and experience, love and hope. Musical influences span from the Swingin' Utters and The Replacements to Bright Eyes and Elliott Smith. Lyrical influence comes from the cities he's called home: Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Berlin, Brooklyn and Los Angeles. The first Divided Heaven full-length, A Rival City is 10 songs that play like a road trip: Five and Dime to Hollywood, Fight or Flight, Born-Again Non-Believer, Keystone, Brandywine, 1,000 New Conclusions, The Return, A Tribute To Amnesia, Usual (Chris) Suspect, East/West.
Jeff Berman has played in various bands like Philadelphia's punk rockers The Boils, South Florida hardcore dudes Protagonist, New Jersey thrashers The Rites, Washington D.C.'s hardcore vets VPR, Lancaster County rock & rollers The Statiks and toured all across the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan.
