Oakland rock/punk band goodbye Gadget formed in 2003 under the name Inspect Her Gadget. The band, originally all-female, possessed a sound heavily influenced by old-school punk and riot grrrl bands. It wasn't until early 2004 when the group brought on vocalist Ana Isabel that they began to find their sound.
The Gadgets gained acclaim after the release of their first EP entitled "Look Harder!" in 2004 and, as a result, landed several West Coast Warped Tour dates, headlined the US Open of Surfing/Beach Games in Huntington Beach, CA, and even had their music featured on MTV's "Punk'd". The band appeared on two compilations in 2005: Interpunk's Local Compilation and Zero Magazine/MGD's "Bang in the Bay".
In 2006 they gave up their all-female image by bringing on a male drummer-and with the new addition came a more refined style. The group spent 2006 writing and recording their debut full-length album and, in light of the changed line-up and sound, the band felt it would also be appropriate to change their name. Goodbye Gadget emerged.
