Blackheart Records was started by Joan Jett in 1980 being the one of the first indie labels owned by a rock artist and the first indie owned by a woman. The label began when 28 labels rejected Jett, before her release of "I Love Rock and Roll". Jett and her long time song writing partner and producer, Kenny Laguna starting pressing their own records and selling them out of the trunk of their car. After 25 years, Blackheart is still true to it's indie spirit. Roster includes Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Eyeliners and The Vacancies.
