On most albums, even other Propagandhi releases, there is at least one track which I find myself skipping time after time. Bands just can't help themselves. They just HAVE to bulk out their releases with sub-standard songs... And this is no exception. Why oh why was 'a public dis-service announcement from shell' included (smack bang in the middle of the album no less)? Fine, it's interesting, it makes a valid point, and it's humerous, but it ruins the flow of the album. This is the reason i bought a cd burner, so i could remove annoying tracks from otherwise BRILLIANT albums. People who liked this also liked:           Please login or register to post comments. Great album, and to all of you commenting on whether or not religion is good, I think the point of this album was to get people thinking for themselves. Propagandhi provides an alternative point of view from mainstream capitalism. so, good for you, whether or not you like this band their point has gotten across wellllllll, shit. amazing album :) i've spent weeks listening to just this album... Fuck I spelt it wrong... OOPS One of my favourite Propoghandi albums... P.S. Great fucking album you lose You are not the last person to ever comment on this review. Hmm.. I may be the last person to comment ever on this review! Let me say this; TETA, and Potemkin City Limits take the cake. (The 2 that came before them were good too:) hands down best album every written :P probably the best cover art on a cd i got... I donno much about less talk more rock. I wasn't into Propagandhi then, uhhh... this cd has some of the best cover art ever. Wow. Public Disservice is not a great song, but nor is it really a song. That being said, I think it serves as a great lead-in to Nation States. How to clean everything was awful. i always get then and than mixed up. i dont think Propagandhi should be blamed for all the annoying teenagers that jump on the bandwagon. Even if you hate them, prop. are talented and dare is say, smart. And the stuff they write in their album sleeves, thats given me furthrt ideas and points to read up on and learn about.BAH. Is it just me, or does no one on this site know the proper uses of their, there and they're? I also notice a lot of people using then for than (not on this post , but on others). How can that exist? you dont need to be a scientist to know it is impossible. FUCK RELIGION. i'm agnostic because it is impossible to say that there is or is not a god. it's as simple as that. it is impossible to know whether he does or doesn't exist. why "choose a side" when neither side has any physical proof to back up their beliefs. What can I say..... They just simple rule it!!! For me they are on of the 10 Best Punk Rock bands... i admire people who dont feel the need to have faith in a make believe airy fairy power, God, or 'presonal religion', or whatever. When people i love die, i know they arent flying around in heaven. I dont belive there is 'someone' looking after me, cos that 'someone' must have been in a coma for all the years i've been alive. There is no need to believe in it. We can live with the effects, if there are any, of NO RELIGION. But the effects of religion now is not worth the need to believe. Justifications for wars, oppression of women,violent conflicts and it all results in bloodshed. a life w/o convictions is pointless? its been my experience that staying to concrete in your beliefs leads to a lack of ability to change, or accept multiple viewpoints of a topic/viewpoint.i dont' dislike people that are religious or not, as long as they dont' use their religeon to judge other people. go shoot yourself. i'm still agnostic bro.i dont' choose sides. i'd rather mediate.this album still only has one good song. nation states. fuckin dammit you people are so stupid. i just posted. i'm against organized religeon, but a personal religeon can be all good, is what i'm saying. i'm gonna take the agnostic stance on this one. i dont' think anyone can say for sure that there is no god, or higher life force (like the force), or nature or something that can be considered a god, or evolution of our minds will play a virtual eternity in our brain at the time of death. then evolution could be considered a god, or higher power than you. well we know it is, were just a couple of fuckholes w/ computers.but in anycase i think religeion is kinda a bummer and causes alot of problems. some people (like my mom) are very religeous but open minded. i don't htink it makes her stupid or ignorant. she was raised that way, she's totally dope and likes the punk rawk and shit, but she believes in god. its ok. she doesnt persecute anyone. she doesnt go to church to much. she just has her own faith and beliefs that help her stay strong. personal religon like that isnt weak, or ignorant, if its helpful then go ahead and have a personal religous dogma free relationship with god. if he exists or not. Music is awesome, lyrics are awesome, and just fuckin makes me all happy inside when I listen to it (even though everything there singing about can bring richard simmons into a period of depression). Definately a buyer, I love Propagandhi's music, well, the songs where chris isn't yelling like a banshee. Its an idea called "faith" waste elite. I was gonna buy this album the other day, found the CD cover in the store, went to the counter, but they couldn't find the damn CD. I downloaded a few songs though, and jeeez, this is gold. all propaghandi songs sound the same and have really no flow to them. they can't sing either. but lyrically their educated but so what.if i want to read intellectual political leftist shit i'll go to the library. this crap is crap. hahaha, now i'm the clever one! I dunno how many, but together with issues about "this piece of the world is ours too" and religion are responsable for most of the wars going on on our little planet. So being anti-religious is not something weird. Still, most bands are not against religious people, instead they attack religious authority and surpression... why are so many punk bands anti religious? Is it really that bad? No why are so many punk bands anti religious? Is it really that bad? I used to not like Propaghandi. Aside from the lyrics they used to sound just like NOFX/Lagwagon/(insert older Fat band name here). They have progressed greatly. Propagandhi is by far my favourite band, but I just can't choose the best record by them. two* how in the hell do you see "gifts" as a trendy song? have you ever read john's lyrics to it (or any of his songs, weakerthans included)? they are fucking brilliant. It was a shame to equalley talented but incredibly different personalities couldn't find a way to stick together (chris and john) but it doesn't matter, todd the rod is a better fit and a great bassist to boot. Anywho, back to my point, John Sampson never wrote a trendy song, and gifts is no exception. Only thing I disagree with, Only good fascist is a very dead fascist is a fucking good song. About "I was a Pre-Teen McCarthyist": _todays empires tomorrow's ashes_ is the greatest propagandhi album. this is a close second. how to clean everything is the only propagandhi album anyone needs. Their weakest album so far. But the title track, with its lyrics ("Did I tell you when I was nine/I tried to fuck a friend of mine"), is absolutely priceless. Well. seeing that we argued about politics on the NFG review, we should probably argue about current clothing trends and to get girls on this review. I would have to disagree and say how to clean everything is better than this. Thats my opinion. |
