After a bad night of missing River City Rebels play right by my school on Long Island in NY, I was hoping that seeing the Distillers would make up for missing one of my favorite bands. The last time I saw the Distillers was at the Knitting Factory, which is a pretty small place, but still bigger than the loft. I was happy to see that on their day off from their arena shows, the Distillers were playing a venue that was about the size of my dorm room (thats a little exaggerated). The Sex Machines rock my fucking clit apart. Yes the MC5 were great too! Kick out the jams motherfuckers! i once heard the sex machines cover helter skelter by the beatles. lets not forget the MC5, they started in 65' as well (maybe 64) and were just as good as the stooges, its just unfortunate that they are one of the most under rated bands of all time. they deserve a lot more credit then they get. The Velvet Underground were great, but NOTHING compared to the Stooges.Iggy Pop was a maniac! The Stooges were before the Velvet Underground you fool. And the Stooges invented Punk and metal at the same time. The Beatles?!? They were great at what they did....but creating punk and laying the raod for metal? No, sorry kid. The Stooges and Iggy Pop are the single most important things in hard music's history, because they were the first. No one before Iggy sounded anything like that. He screamed, yelled and basically went beserk. You might say Jim Morrison, but the existed at the same time believe it or not. The Sooges formed in 1965, so did the Doors. "Without the Stooges punk rock, metal, hardcore, etc. etc. etc. would not exist. The most important band in history." Without the Stooges punk rock, metal, hardcore, etc. etc. etc. would not exist. The most important band in history. that show was pretty good again the distillers seemed almost uninspired. but the fucking sex machines slaughtered that fucking stage what an exciting fucking band. I havent witnessed that much energy and musicianship in a "punk" band in a long time these kids can really play their instuments. Someone really needs to sign these fucking guys before some major grabs a hold of them and tries to turn them into the flavor of the month. No bullshit these guys are the real deal at the end of the day they should have headlined that show because they blew the fucking distillers off the stage. stooges = best rock band ever I was at this show and the sex machines blew everyones ass apart, if theres any band around that deserves to be signed to a good label its these guys. sure, ill see that guys wife play. Yeah, they are like cardboard cutouts on stage, they sound great, but zero energy. that seems to be the knock on the distillers, the lack of stage energy. every time i see them, they're mostly planted to the ground. eh, but they're still good. i like em damn i hate the distillers I was at the show, and i agree, the crowd suckec, the sex machines rocked... and the distillers were alright... they only played for a half hour! like a warped tour set... plus i got the shaft with the ticket price... and there was nothing i could do about it. I guess that's what you should expect when you see "rockstars" in a small club... R.I.P Distillers, I'll miss you. |
