This cd is great. It's obvious that the person who reviewed this grew out of ska somehow, but whatever though. Safe, Already Gone, Not Enough, No One But Myself, and Just A Minute are all really cool songs, and the only song that i actually skip over on this cd is Get It Goin' On (lyrics are pretty bad). So talk as much shit about this cd as you want, but only 1 bad song is pretty damn good to me. :) ***Wispering**** i think he was being sarcastic. "Wow. This is the best review ever. I'm going to submit this to the Sunday edition of the New York Times because they need to start up a ska music review section." What about the OC Supertones? You gotta love Jesus and ska! Someone else on here knows of Streetlight Manifesto and BOTAR... that rocks... "...songs you'll either like, or not." damn wuss emo, rbf is not the best ska band out there by a longshot. what about the slackers, the pietasters? is rbf ska anymore? or were they ever anything more than a pop-ska-rock band? save ska cds: I think that if there is going to be an album to "Save ska-punk" it's going to be Big D's next one. They have probably the best sound in Ska right now. If they could just get out to Ohio to see me, I'd be happy. I am tired of driving to Boston just to see them. ;o) But seriously, this record is just sorta bland, like the new Toasters one as well, and don't get me started on that pile of dung that RBF called a CD earlier this year. I think the only ska band to release a good full length CD this year that I've heard is the Bosstones. Jackknife was fucking amazing. I haven't heard the new River City Rebels, but I hope that it's more in the vein of their first one.Maybe it'll take the new Madness CD to get the ska scene up and going again. Let's hope and pray for it.Oh shit. The new Pietasters also rocked me. Forgot about that. The best bands in ska(punk) right now are obviously Big D and the Kids Table, The Slackers, and Less Than Jake. Well I would still consider Reel Big Fish to be a ska band, I mean their hit song isn't ska on Mtv but it's a ska song when they play it live. As for Naked & Happy aren't those guys still broke up? I know they've played a few reunion show in Montreal as of late, but I was under the impression that they were still going to stay apart. "You're kidding, right? Reel big fish is the most tired band I've ever seen, or heard. Are they even a "Ska" band anymore? Last time I checked, they were writing slick pop punk numbers so they could be on Mtv more. I really don't see how reel big fish could be considered the best anything at this point in their careers. "and...dont cough at rbf, they are the best ska band out there. now for punk/ska we'd have to go with rx bandits, less than jake, my mind is blank now. shit FUCK.YOU.EVERYONE. The songs on this cd are a fuckin blast to hear and now that you guys have had your say, I'll say mine: This cd owns. oh yea the mixing does suck and yea upon more thinking, it really is a huge letdown, the guy who posted 2 below me puts it just about how i would This album is ok... It seems like it wasnt mixed very well though. The vocals are really quiet. this album is junk....they have been playing the same candy-ass shit for 10 years. not to mention, it takes them 5 years to put out an album. this album was a total letdown. dave needs to concentrate on writing better songs intead of bitching about TRL bands at their live shows. evildoers was GREAT...everything after sucketh since this album came out, i've been shoving it down my throat hoping that maybe in time i'll like it, but maybe its time to admit that this was a bad album. i got this album and pray for mojo on the same day, and i love pray for mojo to death. it's a huge step up from evildoers beware, but then they put this shit out, it seems like a step backwards. oh well, maybe their next album will be better. yep, its about what i expected. bummer that the 2 best songs are not enough and already gone, which i already had on the latest hopeless comps.same style, same couple great ska songs, same couple really really bad songs.(all their albums have em). its about the same kind of album they've always done, but i kinda just aint feelin it like i did when i was a junior/senior in highschool. now i'm a senior in college and its just not the same. maybe i'm just into way to much different stuff now. since bro, not sense. it's ok... we all eventually become nothing more than i had a good milestone of my life at a mustard plug show, but while i like the previous records, this one did nothing for me. Mustard Plug has only written one good song and that is "Go" from Evildoers Beware I've only heard 1 mustard plug song and i thought it sucked. this score is for the cover art - bigjerk I don't know what it is about Mustard Plug, but I ran out to get this record the day it came out, hmm...It was the day before...Anyways, I wasn't to impressed with the album so I kind of tossed it aside. *cough* Reel Big Fish *cough* This is not the greatest ska rocking album ever, but give Mustard Plug credit on delivering good old ska unlike other bands that are changing their style of music. |
