| Plea for Peace / Take Action Tour 2002live in Austin, TX2002 live show Review by: jeffrey See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on November 5th 2002
Plea for Peace is an amazing tour, with a diverse line-up that just makes for a great show everytime (at this show it was the Lawrence Arms, Common Rider, Cursive, Poison the Well, and Thursday). The phrase "something for everyone" really was true in this case. On top of the touring acts, four local bands played staggered sets with the main bands so you could sample everything from punk/ska to post-hardcore to hip-hop in one night. This guy must be smoking crack, because i was at this show and this is what i saw. Can't wait for the new album next year. I thought Cursive was amazing at the San Diego show. I thought they blew away Common Rider. In fact CR was the only weak band of the night. I love me some Cursive! But I'll be the first to admit that they aren't the best band I've seen live. But at the P4P Tour show that I went to in Pomona, Ca. I thought they did great. I'm still trying to recover from the fact that they played before Common Rider (what the hell is that?). And as far as being balding and playing for 16-18 year olds... 1) Most of Cursive's fan base is a little more mature than that and 2)How many other older musicians play to a fan base like that? Would you say they all need to get a life... Tim Armstrong of Rancid and, more recently, the Transplants playing for kids from fuckin 10-17 seems to have a pretty damn good life to me. I saw this show in Florida and Cursive blew everything away. If they really did suck that day, its a damn shame. I saw Cursive at Irving Plaza on Saturday, part of the Saddle Creek CMJ showcase, and in my opinion they were just bad. There's nothing special to them at all. cursive is a damn fine band, but this reviewer was right. i was at this show, and they were not very good at all. Tim Kasher was hitting himself in the head, and overall making stupid gestures the whole time, while accenting the bad lyrics of the songs and letting the brilliant lines just slip off the tongue. The great decay, one of my favorite songs of theirs, sounded plain bad. Their drummer does not hit his drums very hard, and therefore his performance comes off weak. I like cursive a ton, but I agree with the reviewer that they were by no means good at that show. how long does this thing go on for?? Cursive owns all. I can't wait for the new LP next year! i meant 4. woops. i wish it was these ten bands. i would kill to see cursive live. it seems every show on this tour has been these same 4 bands |
