I honestly think that on their first try, Atreyu accomplished what takes most bands years to do, particularly in this genre. Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses is perhaps the most impressive debut I ever remember hearing. Deep, passionate songwriting delivered with ferocity that will have you growling along while adding something new to an already exhausted Metalcore formula. love love love. over and over, I keep listening to this album. Great Band if by Atreyu you mean Kid Dynamite Atreyu is the best fucking band period!! atreyu is awesome!!! Wow. Back when people didn't ToTaLLy h8 Atreyu. Yeah this is one of my favorites right now. I love it. Great cd. But I'll have to agree that Alex's voice is like..."bloughogu" Kinda does sound like he's throwin up or something. But if they didnt have him , then Lip Gloss and Black would be a shitty song. Same with Tulips are Better. A great band and one of the hardest out there is so awsome and anyone who thinks else was is a fricken retard and sould die. Shit on all of you who gave Atreyu a bad review. This band has to be #1 in hardcore bar none. They don't pummel you with a full song of double bass and that's new for most hardcore bands. They may not be the HARDEST but they are definately the best! Check 'em out next time they're near you. Alex and Brandon are the perfect combo! Well your wish is half complete. From Autumn to Ashes, 18 vision, and Atreyu will be on tour together this spring. Now, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so I'm not gonna be the guy who says someone else is an idiot. Unless they prove it themselves. Atreyu are simply amazing, OC hardcore at its finest. It would be so cool if like Atreyu, 18 Visions, and Throwdown all toured together. OC style. btw, double bass pedaling on a drumset is much harder than you'd think, and I myself have just gotten semigood at it. This cd is one of the best I've heard from the metalcore scene in a while. The guitars have potential but need to change their pickups, the drummer is damn good and the singer does a good job, lyrics and voice. The bass player is a bass player (not that its a bad thing). They put on a damn good show and am proud they are from california. Thrice sucks! yeah... i totally agree with the converge thing, but in a good way. sounds like converge to me. these guys sound alot like in flames, and that fucking rules. even my friend who is a huge in flames fan was blown away by this cd. to the guy below me, they maybe sound a little bit like swedish metal, but maybe if you have actually listened to the two, you could distinguish it, its not that hard. and aparently, none of you have ever heard converge if you think this band sounds like converge. there is nothing original about this band. they took some token swedish metal and got a guy who can't scream for his life, and a drummer who wants to be in a crappy iron maiden cover band and put a band together. i would like to point out that iron maiden are sick...and the drummer wishes he were anywhere near as intense as any of the guys in iron maiden. worst record of the year. this band wishes to fuckin god they were a converge rip-off band. this band is god awful. still a fucking converge rip off. A fine cd to jam to when your pissed or depressed what a fucking converge rip-off. yeah, well... on that topic If you even have time to comment on this shit, you probably need to go out and buy the Clash S/T. Everybody in here needs to buy the Clash S/T. Fucking assholes. This score is for the Clash. The guy who screams sounds like a hardcore scooby doo. bands like thrice and killswitch engage take giant dumps on all of these singing hardcore bands. Good review for a good band. It took me a little while to get into the vocals, too. But I love them now. The lead singer reminds me of a giant bird singing and the drummer reminds me of Ozzy Osbourne. I saw these guys in September with Snapcase, they seem like nice guys but i just can't get past the growl. hmmmmm. all i've heard is the single i guess. 'aint love grand'. can't say it was anything special. i'm not much for this type of genre. too heavy. i'm old and a big pussy now. when i was 16 i woulda probably loved it. i don't like his voice when he sings. screaming voice is a dime a dozen. fuck it. I don't much about the metalcore/hardcore genre, but this is the first band that has stuck out as being different and innovative (based on my short experience with this music). It captures the intensity and trademarks of the music, but pushes the envelop and takes other styles into account. It is a good mix for all people. the Vocals get old after awhile, but still a great CD. God forbid that bands start to use animals/insects for their covers/logos. well for one, you would expect the locust to have a winged insect on some of their covers seeing as how they are called the fucking locust. what's up with bands these days and winged animals on their cd cover? (ie: coheed and cambria, the locust, thursday, etc). It's kind of annoying when scenes start developing cliches... Amazing band and to the guy who said the melodic parts sound like NFG and growl is bad - you are a dumbass. It is a different guy. The drummer does the backing vox. i like atreyu, fata and hopesfall. a lot Haha. I like some bands that growl, but Atreyu does the worst job. crap like hopesfall? haha hopesfall is way better than this band. i admit a lot of this stuff is pretty catchy but both of the singers sound horrible and the riffs are pretty unoriginal just the swedish metal sound. from autumn to ashes is also pretty sucky. they do not know how to write transitions. hopesfall is way above both those bands. I was really angry for a while and listened to this a lot. Good and cathartic, but the vocals are not for everyone(emo melodic and raw throat hardcore screaming, no middle ground) this album is amazing. this is one of the best albums i have bought in a long time. my only problem with it is track 7, mainly because i can't stand efrem's (of death by stereo fame) voice The problem- when he sings he sounds like the guy from NFG and when he screams he sounds like the cookie monster....he got the worst of both worlds!!! oh well, music is good. big fan, but the siger sounds liek her needs a tracheotomy i agree, i like the music, but the vocals turn me off at times. if you like this, buy either From Autumn to Ashe's "Too Bad Your Beautiful" or Hopesfall's "Satellite Years" to get a better example of the new emo-metalcore stuff. I really dig Atreyu, but i'm not too hip on the singer's screamy voice.. the melodic voice is nice, but the screamy one is too much blaugh blaugh blauuuugh.. but everything else is great about them. Good album, good review. This is not their first release, but personally i cannot stand the lead singers voice, besides that the musicianship is well on this release. |
