Punchline will do well. That doesn’t mean that they’re any good though. Their recently re-released “Rewind” EP on Fueled By Ramen is just what the kids want these days. The sound is reminiscent of The Juliana Theory and occasionally The Ataris. It’s the same tired formula that everybody is trying to cash in on these days. Punchline isn't my kind of music, but i still know they're a good band. And as for the Bull$hit review above, here's a post from the same retarded ass reviewer: Whatever crap all you are talking about, its not true. First off, I don't know how you can go and talk bad on the band without ever seeing them live. I have NEVER saw any band put so much into a concert in my life, and I have seen hundreds of bands. Plus, the concerts are not the same. I have gone to their concerts day after day and not a single concert was the same. There has always been a variety in the music. Listen to the lyrics too, maybe you all think they suck, but to many people including me, have gotten through many depressing situations by listening to the lyrics and going to the concerts. The vocals too, are the best I have ever heard and the harmony is amazing beyong belief. The guys are definately the nicest guys in the world. They are extremely thankful for their fans and are always more than happy to meet their fans. The guys have earned a lot more than they have gotten which shows that they love doing what they do, and are not in it just for the money and getting chicks (like some bands are). The best of luck to the guys! Actually, they have a good sound live. I wouldnt recommend the ep though. These guys are the biggest scam artists around. Nothing like coming up to the same town every other weekend just because you know that you'll get at least three grand in merch alone, not to mention basically whatever price you demand from the promoter. The most acurate description of this band would be the equation Hot Water Music The Juliana Theory Blink 182=Punchline. You listen to their music and you hear riffs and chord progressions lifted from those three bands constantly. Nothing like trying to cash in and make a quick buck on someone else's success. As long as you go to their shows, buy their merch and sing along, the guys in the band will be your best friends. The second that you say anything against them, even if it was not malicious in intent, you are black listed and the guys won't give you the time of day and even start to bad mouth you when you're not around. Every show is the same exact set with the same exact songs played in the same exact order. Seeing this band play only once is, I assure you, more than enough. Come on guys. Where do you think your band will be when the seemingly endless supply of fourteen year old girls that come to your shows and swoon over how cute you are stop coming and move on to the next music craze? The worst part thing about this band is that they strive to be exactly like everyone else with the same tired chord progressions and the same tired lyrical cliches. Bands that have more talent radiating from every aperature of their bodies get pushed aside and walked out on at shows because the little boys and girls show up to see Punchline work their stage magic and play yet another set of the same old stuff. SSDS. Same stuff different show. Im sure that a member of the band or one of their lackeys will get online and read this and probably flame me but oh well. They can just go back to the Punchline van and keep smoking the weed that punchline buys with all their "hard earned" cash. Stay away from this EP and NEVER, I repeat, NEVER go and watch them play live. This ep does suck. Fueled By Ramen needs to get in and out quick. "Their is also a shitty Punchline out here near the Showcase Theatre, in Covina I think or something like that." I think the bold ones are done by Scott and his friends. Theyre really good live. I got the CD after seeing them and I was really dissapointed. To much NFG-ness. i cant believe i stopped the new utters album to listen to this garbage. this is shit. adamsocial what is the world coming to? you forgot whatever it takes. My favorite punchline song is and will always remain, "Three months to a lifetime." Why they gotta discriminate on Fast Forward? dude, buddyhead is SO two years ago. About those Pittsburgh bands: Whoever wrote this review should take another look at this EP. I've never heard a bad review for Punchline. I'm not saying they are the world's greatest band, they have their flaws, but you had nothing good to say at all about the EP. Not only is this CD clever, the vocal harmonies are excellent, and their change in style keeps the songs interesting. The only similarites these 4 songs have are that they are all by the same artist. If you can honestly listen to Power Off, especially the instrumental 6/8 section, and tell me it sucks, then there is something wrong with you. You don't have to like it, but ripping Punchline apart wasn't what i would call constructive criticism. So if the Rewind EP isn't good, why don't you tell us what band is? I'll give these guys the fact that they worked hard and they seem to be pretty cool based on talking to them. I remember being at a show a while back and one of these guys was in the crowd(the guitar player maybe) and somehow my friend and I ended up talking to him. We didn't know who he was. Well as we were discussing the opening acts my friend said something to the extent of "yeah, Punchline sucks" and the guitar player(?)just shook his head and said "I don't know, I like them." So he said he had to go and he left. A couple minutes later we were shocked to see this guy playing onstage as a member of Punchline. Okay dickweed. kids around here love this band I think the reviewer was a tad bit harsh on Punchline. The lyrics aren't that bad but nothing too spectacular. These guys put on a great show and that's what first attracted me to them as well as their overlapping vocals and harmonies. I've had the priveledge of seeing them a few times. One thing that disappointed me most in this EP was that the energy from their live show doesn't quite transfer over into the record and the songs seem a bit watered down for my taste. Their is also a shitty Punchline out here near the Showcase Theatre, in Covina I think or something like that. fuck. i'm from pittsburgh and have known ofthese guys for years. they busted their asses to get where they are, but sadly they suck. i remember them handing out fliers to their shows at every show i would go to.hard workers. but nothing great punchline is really cheesy but they have been doing the same thing for a REALLY long time now. and have busted alot of ass to get where they are. they're for the most part very nice guys. blah blah blah. They have potential, I like them, but, they really need to get an identity. Yeah, these guys are local, but they still suck. Cadillac Blindside is one of the only bands on FBR people should listen to. I'm waiting for that damn Blueline Medic album to come out. I have to back some local guys. Seeing there's not much in Pittsburgh in terms of good music to defend. in their defense, these guys came up around the same time as most of the bands you claim they sound like, they didn't just jump on the bandwagon. The lyrics are utterly painful. Sorry, you don't HAVE to reach into the emo bag o tricks for EVERY line! There is a lot worse wan bland music than this though, so I wouldn't give it the lowest score. |
