The boys from Manic Hispanic are back, still dodging the border patrol, crusing around in lowriders, and running from a liorona. For those not in the know MH is a Hispanic version of Weird Al that trashes classic punk rather than the top 40. The songs are still funny dealing mostly with Hispanic street culture and prove once again that stereotypes are funny.

Musically this band doesn’t miss a beat and all the songs sound dead on, and the jokes are funny, but this band just failed to make a lasting impression on me. Most of the songs got old after only a couple of listens and I found that compared to the last record I didn’t like it as much. I think a lot of this had to do with the choice of songs. Too many of them came from older bands that just didn’t translate well into a joke. Partly because I didn’t know all the songs like on the first album, i.e. not being a Damned or Dickies fan three of the songs are completely lost on me because I have never heard the original version. I think that this fact will also alienate many of these bands' fans, which are probably of the younger generation, and won’t recognize any of these.

I did hear that this band is fun live so you might to check that out, but I couldn’t see buying this album unless you’re a big fan of the bands being covered and want to hear that.

Trippin On Mi Ruca- Drinking About My Baby– Damned

Tio’s Got a Secret- What We Do Is Secret- the Germs

Menudo Morning Nightmare- Sunday Morning Nightmare- Sham 69
The I.N.S. Took My Novia Away- The KKK Took My Baby Away- Ramones

Awesome band, awesome album. Way better when you actually GET the jokes. The band can play and imitate voices well, and all three albums are just FUN albums.

fellas great cd, these guys have a great sense of humour, put on a better live show than any simple plan new found glory show any day.

Should I argue with someone that goes to dashboard confessional shows? Because it seems pretty obvious to me that he hates himself enough already. god it must suck to live in boston.

Oh and by the way twat, if by asking "are ethnicities like unicorns in Boston" you are implying that we dont have people of "ethnicity" you are an idiot. Perhaps the word you were looking for was minoity.. yea thats probably it.-BostonMusicGuy

    My Score:

Just so Mr. Twat knows, I dont own this cd. I wont buy this cd. I like the song "I want to be a cholo" off of the Warped comp but thats the only one ive ever heard by them. I even said that that was the only one I had ever heard by them in my comment. Perhaps he just wants to start a fight of some sort because he thinks it will make him cool. Im probably just adding to the fight by replying but whatever... im pretty bored waiting to go out. Anyway, yea we have races in Boston. I live outside of a city called Lawrence MA, and that city is 75% (at least) hispanic (Puerto Rican and Dominican). So yea there goes that argument. All I was saying was it was a hilarious cover art and title. Perhaps I just understand the humor and you dont. fucking twat.-BostonMusicGuy

haha...the cover art and title are hilarious, and so are the songs. sure this isn't rock for the ages, or even a couple hours...but if you know any of the songs or bands they parody its real funny. check it out

"Yo holmes! You want to be a cholo essay? Joo want to ride in my 69 cheby? Isn't Boston called bean town? Wouldn't that make you a beaner? You’re halfway there. You are fucking stupid."

hey buddy... what's with the resentment?

i think bmg was referring to the cover by the vandals...

you don't make any sense at all... and your feeble attempt to type like a mexican failed miserably... it's ese, not essay... and we do spell our words properly when we type... so fuck off...

so from what i was able to make of your comment, are you saying that just because someone is mexican or whatever, they should stick to the type of music associated with their "race"?... come on... that's complete bullshit.

secondly... i doubt you would get any of the humor on the album, you can't relate to it in any way, or you simply don't have a clue about the jokes... whatever... i don't even know why i'm answering your post... it just pissed me off i guess. whatever.

i really enjoy this album, although like fuzzy pointed out a few down, it's kind of hard to top "the recline of mexican civilization"... as far as joke groups... i think manic hispanic is at the very top

I heard of this band but never the tunes or what its about, but that album cover and name are awesome and the song titles sound classic too. Im gonna have to check it out

Yo holmes! You want to be a cholo essay? Joo want to ride in my 69 cheby? Isn't Boston called bean town? Wouldn't that make you a beaner? You’re halfway there. You are fucking stupid. Like Paula Abdul once said, "straight up” you are an idiot. I listen to rap music and then I wish I was black. Not really, because I’m not that lame. Are ethnicities in Boston like unicorns? Are they this mythical creature you hear about but never see? Do you see what kind of retarded statement that was? Of course not you bought this cd. Anyway you're stupid for listening to this shit. Go get a burrito and then the new tomahawk cd, and then go fuck yourself.

I want to be a cholo! Thats the only song I have heard of this band, off last years Warped Comp, but I might actually look further into them. They sound like a pretty funny band... and that cover.... HA!-BostonMusicGuy

The TSOL cover is fucking awesome. I really dig this album. Its not meant to be serious, just fun with punkrock. Obviously some people can't mix fun with their music.
"Creeper is a Lowrider" is easily the best track on here. Oh and the inside art is fucking gold, all these classic punk shows posters from Bad Religion, Social D, The Misfits and so on....with Manic Hispanic's name added to the bill.

Lalo got this yesterday, I think it's pretty good, from what I heard. It's not as good as the first one...but that would be REALLY hard to top, I think. However, this does get the best cover art award.

For all idiots....think Me First And The Gimme Gimme except covering older punk songs and you get something "Similar" to this. Ok, there. Good stuff, but still only jokey covers, therefore only worth purchase if you're a huge fan of the band.
