Victory Records is leaning towards the pop punk side even more than usual these days. With the release of Silverstein’s third album “When Broken Is Easily fixed” its easy to begin criticizing this move on Victory’s part. Where other bands such as Taking Back Sunday are able to make appealing pop-punk that has a somewhat different twist to it, this band fails terribly. Silverstein in my heart :'o I love everything they've done. You're a chick. Chicks should only be allowed to review Britney Spears albums. i think that this was a Amazing album and if you think its not then your just a jack ass Having this piece of crap classified as screamo completely destroys the entire genre that has seen many amazing bands and no silverstein is not one of them.They are not even hardcore damn.Of coz HH is the worst band.Silverstein Is juz a bad band. kick ass album another emo / post hardcre triumph because of this album my heart bleeds no more This cd is awesome. One of the best debut screamo albums ever. And by the way this cd does have some hardcore elements to it. Don't try to deny that Bleeds No More and The Weak and the Wounded have edge to them. Just because you dont like the band doesnt mean you have to be so biased as to call them soft I'm also into post-hardcore. this isnt that, it is merely shit crammed into a CD case and people just gobble it up becuase it has that very original 2 part sing 1 part forced scream that everyone loves these days I'm into the emo, post-hardcore shit. Sorry ladies and gents, but someone has to be scene here, and unfortunately, it's so me. Yay they should crush your nuts. sigh...I too was once into the crap emo shit..(I still hated the whole cross dressing thing though)...then I met the lead singer @ warped tour 2005....he wuz in pants that were so tight that if I wore them my nuts would have been oblimerated...his shirt wuz so small that I could see his stomache....WHAT FUCKING SHIT!!!I HATE FUCKING EMO PUSSYs LIKE THAT!!!!Thank GOD i got back into punk...and no...I don't mean blink-182...I mean NOFX,GERMS,Agent Orange,the sex pistols, and the Misfits....EMO SUCks...ALL OF YOU EMO PUSSYs! GO CUT YERSELF TO DEATH!!!! i'll admit that song isn't very good. But there are a lot of high points on the album...but the new video for Smile In Your Sleep sucks Minus Ides of March (or w/e the song is called, i forgot), it'd get a 2 1/2, I just hate the song so much that other shoud know it sucks. yeah...well Your Sword vs. My Dagger is an awesome song. not only that but to be a reviewer you can't say 'well this song takes off 2 1/2 already' you have to listen to the whole CD and then rate it...and i'm not saying you didn't do taht with your rating but i mean just by listening to a song ya can't say 'well that takes away 2 stars' "Ides of March" equal instant minus 2 1/2 points. well your getting closer. i would give there new one a 3 1/2 or 4...pretty good CD Score for their new album. i like Silverstein, i kno they have there moments where they are to popish but Smashed to Pieces and about half the others on the CD are really good....i know you said that toledo so dont go crazy on us all again Scenestein is bisexual. They have a few moments but mainly suck. Are you two fellas done blowing eachother yet? End Of Heartache isn't bad but it isn't there best Sevenfold has "Beast and the Harlot," the rest of the album is a Guns'n'Roses rip. no, i hate Sevenfold. I like Killswitch Engage and Atreyu...thats about it really and i know Atreyu isn't heavy really but thats it. And if you think i only like bands that are mainstream here are some bands i like that didn't "sell out" And I am a dude. You cant sell out because a song got popular. You sell out when you change your music to stay in the mainstream crowd. No, i'm not a girl. Are you? I happen to have liked Hawthorne Heights before they "sold out" which I admit they did a little bit by going on MTV and Fuse so much. But just because they did that doesn't mean I am going to stop liking them as a band. That is a gay thing to do and just proves you only listen to what is "in" at the time just to please other people. Do it. hey crazytoledo, i just saw Hawthorne Heights at Warped...you can say whatever you want about them selling out or whatever, but they put on a hell of a show. Everyone was going nuts, and not only that they sounded great. Espically for a group with 3 vocalists. And if i were to review the re-issue it would be a 3 and a half stars...the footage was cool but not amazing New Silvertsien song is slow, dammit it all, it's ok at best, but I want all the songs to be like "Smashed into Pieces" and "Hear Me Out" Anyways, MD, why not review the HH reissure and give it a 4 stars and see yourself ripped to shreds. ROFFLE. whoever the person was who said the thing about "ppl with the problem with the review hated the CD" is a dumbass, i'm pretty damn sure he said that and i kno i'm repeating him by saying this but god man if reading is your friend then how about you read the things posted before posting this crap Well megan heres the thing i have nothing against your thoughts... or anything but why did you have to bash the whole vicorty records....many amazing bands are signed by vicorty such as Atreyu, aiden, bayside, comeback kid, and hawthrone heights. i could keep going but i thought i should get to my point now...you may not like this band and so may many other people....but i dont like say...umm simple plan...but if i wrote a review i sure as hell would not give then a half star they would be getting at least a 2 and a half or 3, becuase they are talented...i personaly just dont like the way they put their songs together, but they are singed and have Cds out sooo that means someone out there likes them and they have talent! anyways i hope i never see another shitty ass review like this and give the bands you dont like some fucking credit! people with the problem of the review hated the cd... people with the problem of the review hated the cd... Some of the people liked Evergreen Terrance but just hated how u talked about every song on the entire CD. Download legally dumbass, not everyone wants to break the law or goes around saying they do because the RIAA probably pays bunch of little pussies to go on sites like this and look for people saying they download shit illegally... by looking at the responces to your Evergreen Terrance review it seems like you deserve a half star as a reviewer. They seemed to LOVE you! the best song can be downloaded? I think any song can be downloaded a half star for buying it since the best song and an ok song can be downloaded and the other 1 or 2 songs really arent worth the sticker price. even if u think those are the only 3 good songs...u have to agree that it deserves better than half a star A lot of the songs are emo popish and suck. How can you even call this pop? I know that some of these new punk bands are leaning on the pop side, but i dont care if they change the genere, screw the genere all it is is a way to label music and if a band doesnt sound like u think they will they all of the sudden suck not great, not good, but not horrible....they really kick ass live...part of the score is for that...only 4 or 5 good song on their record....but they all sound really good in show!!! I dont want originality. I dont want anything new. I dont want this band to be something different in their genre. I want a bunch of kick ass bands that do the same thing. Heres one of them. Ok, heres the thing... one of the worst cds i've ever heard. ok, here's the deal This my friends, is Screamo at it's finest. Passionate when needed, heavy at the right moments. A perfect combination of melody and power make one great album, Rock on Silverstein. I don't care how hard Silverstein worked to get this far. I am from Southern Ontario and have seen these assclowns play WAY too many times then I would like to count as they like to tag along with actually talented bands (like .moneen.). Horrible generic crap which has RUINED southern ontario. You should see it, these douchebags totally annhilated the scene forwarding it into fashioncore faster than you can imagine. So bad, I hope they stop making music soon... actually no... because if they do, they will break up and form other groups that will be even worse (i.e. Grade - Kyle Bishop = Somehow Hollow*HORRIBLE). You stupid kids should drop dead. I built this scene, give it back. Wow, what's with all the hostility? This record is truly awful. Silverstein are a waste of space, as are their fans. In fact, I think all Silverstein fans should imitate the happenings on the cover and tear out their hearts. It's not like they're contributing to anything useful in society. You didn't even have ONE good point. Silverstein is an awesome band, personally I prefer their old stuff more. Their lyrics are awesome, one of my favourite things about them, you could pick a shitty lyric from any band. This album is without doubt one of the best albums I ever heard! I really like the screamings and the emotional parts are just perfect! And then I still said nothing about the artwork, which is amazing! This album is pretty much mediocre, but it's not terrible by any means. It's a pop listen, background music. I've been a Silverstein fan for a good year now, largely because of their incredible independent EP When the Shadows Beam. Some say that their lyrics are cliched, but without straightforward lyrics, a band retains no singalong value. The Beatles are hailed as the best band in history, and their lyrics were either nonsensical or kindergarten. But Victory Records sucks.. all of you people love to criticize Victory Records on this site. Victory Records signs whoever they want to sign, regardless of who you think they should. Just because you might have pinned them as a certain sort of label and now they sign different kinds of bands just means they want to sign different kinds of bands. Were all of you always so "hardcore" or did your musical preference change over time? You are all too thick headed to take this post seriously anyway so it's just pointless. all of you people that love talking shit on Victory's new bands are probably just washed up scenesters wishing you were still in the late 80's or jealous lame kids in bad hardcore bands. Obviously Victory has begun a new chapter so you should just move on to the next cool label to follow. Even if you're going to write a hate review, at least make it a DECENT review. The review is complete garbage. Secondly, I don't know where the hell anyone figured this to be pop punk? I keep hearing Yellowcard thrown at these guys? What, all bands with these vocals and a violin are Yellowcard? Silverstein actually uses the violin well, and they make good emo songs. These guys are new-age EMO, not pop punk and not screamo. This reviewer, she's a nut. The record is decent. Nothing to have a child over, but it is better than a lot of things currently out there in this genere. give this album a 1/2 star, damn! How about your review. First you tackle the ethics of the label, then you go after the cliche's of the band. You take lyrics out of a random song, then you comment on how they are not as cool as...hmm, do you have better lyrics?? Wow, easy to judge huh? Lets put your material up on the chopping block. This band's signing is atleast in the right direction for Victory. Before they were signing bands like Spitalfield which just have no place in the Victory line-up in my opinion. But go ahead, rip Silverstein apart. That snoretacular 16-minute song is just on a loop, they could have made it half an hour if they wanted it to. You wouldn't know good art if it slid into a CD case and stared you in the face. Which it did. Maybe it doesn't appeal to you personally, but it's extremely well-done and graphically it works perfectly. Really, I'm not one to criticize someone else's tastes in art, but to say that sucks is completely fucking ignorant. Until you gain some credentials in art criticism, stick with the music. I have been anticipating this album and just got it. Listened to it twice on my two hour drive out to Athens, Ohio. I was skeptical about buy after the review bashed them, but i heard the two songs on mp3.com awhile back and kept recalling how catchy i thought they were. Definetly not anything truly original, but hardly bad at all. The screaming is a lot heavier than other bands of the same type around now a days, and they pull off the mixture of pop and hardcore very well. I am impressed and would at least give it an 8 outta 10. The girl who wrote this should get off her high horse of thinking it is now more cool to bash a band than to like them. I've noticed lately a lot of former emo kids are now making fun of emo. I knew this day would come and I'm relishing the moment very much, but GOD DAMN dont people get tired of liking something, hating it, than repeating the process over and over for years? Anyways I never heard the music on this album but the cover art is cool ive only heard one song of this, and while its not particularly great, it definatly deserve the bashing that the reviewer gave it. however it would be much better if they got rid of the crappy screams. This score is for the potency of the pungent odor. Learn how to write a decent review. "Clarity" IS a masterpiece, motherfucker. As for these guys, I've downloaded a few songs. They're nothing special, but nothing terrible either. I don't give a fuck what genre you call this, but I'd say bands that do this style better would be the Beautiful Mistake and A Static Lullaby. Buy their CDs and leave this on the shelf. Let one of your stupid friends buy it (you know, that tag-along kid who's clueless about music but wants to be cool like you), and then burn it off them. great review...this band eats massive amounts of dick Yeah I like the cover art too. The subject matter may be a tad bit cliqued but the execution is fantastic. "When Victory Records signs Bad Bands" (part 17). good god.. that was a horrible review. the bashing sucked ass. i like the cover for this by the way. never heard the band, but "originality blah blah shit" is dumb. i dunno about screamo, but they sure as hell aren't pop-punk. i think they're cool, but i can see that people might not like them. if you're gonna criticise them though, i'd say maybe they're a bit nu-emo rather than pop-punk... ok did some motherfucker at victory pull the trigger on pushing this cd back on its actual release date?? haven't heard the band, but I think the drawing on the cover is really damn good. It might not be the most original concept, but it's well done, and I really like the coloring used, grabs my attention at least (ooh, shiny...). This scores for the cover art. My friend gave me a promo of this band and spitalfield. They both suck but that's not my point. They descibed Silverstein as "agressive like Posion The Well, catchy like Saves The Day..." and so on. This Album is nice!
