Teaser EPs are a common necessity for many labels that need to hype some band who already has an upcoming album that everyone is already looking forward to. They're not bad ideas either - sell a few previews of the new disc and perhaps buy a couple new fans in return. My only gripes with teaser EPs are the fact that many times, these EPs come out just a month before the album anyway, especially as of late (see: Rufio - s/t, NoFx - Regaining Unconsciousness). I understand the fact the EPs are just a marketing tool used by the label, but we're going to be hearing the new batch of songs soon enough anyway. However, the labor of the upcoming No Motiv (say it like "motive") full length has only just entered its third trimester. Several months is a reasonable amount of time to savor the miniature dosage of tunes for the time being. Please login or register to post comments. Daylight Breaking comes out today!!! Fuck, will this full length ever come out?! I've been grinding my fucking teeth over "Daylight Breaking", I can't fucking wait. This EP is awesome, I've been a fan since I heard them on the first "5 Years..." Vagrant comp. "Diagram..." is a great album, too. I don't think they're that emo, I still consider them a punk band, no matter what. ummm its F5... who the fuck jacked up my review with pointless hits? no motiv's great, not nearly-10,000-hits-on-a-punknews-review great. stop with this shit already, or get the paperweights off ctrl N or whatever this is one of those bands thats been around for awhile and just always been solid. I think people recognize their "underdog" tag and then they finally get their due credit. So Im glad to see it happening for this band, they're good guys in a good band. Lola is short, sweet, and right 2 the point. Can't wait for the full length from No Motiv in the fall. Class act all the way around. Viva No Motiv! hey dipshits I saw No Motiv with RxB and the crowd loved them. As for the "drive thru crowd," most of the kids there were either ska leftovers or 17/18 , so that point isn't really valid, either. wyzo, "Nard"core=Oxnard,CA.....that's where they're from. What is this nardcore everyone speaks of? i saw them with mxpx, or missed them and left the show, and then diagram had some possibly christy song stuff going on, not a fan. Eh, RxB doesn't draw the "typical" drive thru crowd though, at least not the times I've seen them. But it is true about No Motiv being put on the strangest tours. I saw them with h20 once..... NARDCORE!!!! Saw these guys a few nights ago. Got a chance to talk to a couple of them. Nice dudes. This new ep is fucking great. "Grey Notes Fall" is a solid reminder of just how talented No Motiv is. you were seeing the Rx bandits and the crowd didnt like no motiv, no kidding. The drive thru crowd wouldn't. No motiv is always paired with the wrong bands. No motiv is a rock machine, there more akin in spirit to the current equal vision bands. did you listen to how hard 'shells' rocked? well, in that very same interview they told me that they had just signed a contract which would put them on vagrant pretty much the rest of their careers. But I dont know how hard Vagrant would fight if they wanted to leave, hopefully they try to. these guys are pretty solid... i really liked diagram, and sadness was cool too... i haven't had time to check this out but i will. Without a doubt No Motiv should find a new label, and after the upcoming LP I believe they will have satisfied their contact with Vagrant. yeah i had no idea about this ep until i checked up on release dates on like punkupdates or whatever. i was like "oh cool why the fuck do i know NOTHING about it" ya, i totally agree with that last post. Usually with Vagrant releases Im so sick of hearing about it by the time it comes out. I didnt even know this was coming out. jeez, I was just thinking about how Vagrant doesn'nt give a shit about this band and then they come out with this EP which I havn't even heard about.....seriously......has anybody seen ads in magazines or read news on the web about this EP? No Motiv rocks. Nice age guess homo (35?) - they're in their 20s. I guess a 24 year old looks 35 to a 12 year old, huh? Plus, they're more genuine than you'll ever be. I saw these guys with Rx Bandits and holy shit did they fucking blow. A bunch of 35 year olds still whining about girls. It was sad to say the least and the crowd seemed to agree as everyone just stood there staring as if to say "what the fuck?" they're not an emo band they're a rock band that's it and they're great at what they do. After seeing the video for the song "Brand new day" on that Vagrant dvd I thought No Motiv was headed for bold new territory. Well after hearing this ep they are clearly not....just boring emo. I sure hope Brand new day is on the new album though. someone tell layaway plan to unbreak up first no motiv song I heard was on a comp and it was awesome. I like quite a few No Motiv songs, but at times the vocals can get pretty annoying... oxnard boys, sadness was great, as was cynical even though they kind of disavow those songs. Diagram was a bit less filling, but if the demos are any indication, this should be a good record. i interviewed these guys last summer, really good guys. I felt bad cause they are kinda down on themselves because they aren't as big as their counterparts, but they should be. I really really hope this album does well for them. I couldn't agree more. One of the most underrated bands in the scene today. |
