ThursdayThursday: Full CollapseFull Collapse (2001)Victory Records Reviewer Rating: 3.5 User Rating: Contributed by: abileneINloveabileneINlove (others by this writer | submit your own) I bought this CD after downloading the track "cross out the eyes" for the Victory site. It was a decent enough song. Intense but a sense of melody and melancholy prevailed. This song shows nothing of what the album in full is. The lyrics are contemplative and lofty yet hard hitting and intense. Band. I bought this CD after downloading the track "cross out the eyes" for the Victory site. It was a decent enough song. Bands like Cursive, Grade and even Bauhaus remind me of Thursday. Yes, that Bauhaus. The singer has a very goth texture to his voice and the guitar, when it isn't ripping away, takes avery 80's goth feel as well. In any case this CD is amazing and the triple, sometimes quadtruple vocal layerings is quite impressive. If this is a precursor to what Victory is going to keep putting out, I say, "Amen!" i love this album i could listen to it all day every day your fuckin gay. paris in flames is a kickass song but its not the only one. there isnt a song on the cd thats not kickass..go get some better taste "Paris in flames" is their only good song. Thursday has quite possibly the worst singer in modern music (next to taking back sunday that is). I cant believe how fast you kids swarm over this shit. Just because the good music is almost at a stand still right now is no reason to start worshipping this crap. The music is bland as all hell as well. If you want a good modern Victory album, buy Snapcase's "End Transmission". Pure Orgasm for the ears. I have to disagree with something that Kyle said about this cd. "Goth"? Not at all! This album is so intense; the lyrics and vocals are incredible, ranging from melodic singing to frantic screaming, and the music is mind-blowing, it will draw you in and then tear you apart. When you hear this album you can't help but scream along and start busting some ninja moves right in your room. After a 30 second intro thing, the song "understanding in a car crash" explodes from the speakers. With lyrics such as "the broken watch you gave me turned into a compass. These two hands still point to the same time, 12:03 - our last goodbye" it almost makes you cry (if you've ever lost a close friend in a car accident you'll know what I mean) and yell along at the same time. Well, I could ramble on forever about each and every one of these songs, but BUY THIS CD RIGHT NOW! YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED! WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS REVIEW? BUY IT! BUY IT! AND SEE THEM LIVE! |
