Another year, another disposable Take Action compilation - two discs worth, in fact. 44 songs [and one public service announcement] are contained on these two discs, covering every aspect of indie music these days, it seems - Thrice, The Ataris, Thursday, Elliott, Boy Sets Fire, Further Seems Forever, Rise Against, Copeland, Vaux, Spitalfield, This Day Forward, Cursive, The Jealous Sound, The Bronx, and Small Brown Bike are just a handful of the artists participating in this compilation. Well, Ive heard almost all of the songs an d band on here, but not Brendan Benson, and I like that song, so cool enough. It's quite rare to see expensive comps out there einstein.... we need quality, not quantity. I have 4 Plea For Peace CDs, so wouldn't that make this Volume 4 ? The first is black with an asian guy on the front, the second is the gold and red one, the third is last year's, and I just bought this one about 3 weeks ago. I must admit that they have gone downhill since the first 2. The double disc comps coming out as of late (Punk O Rama 8, Plea For Peace, Warped Tour, etc.) really don't do it for me. Too many bands to get to know very many without sacrificing the second CD. Anyone else share my sentiments ? the first comp was ok, the one last year sucked and this one looks like it will suck..... i didnt expect to want this due to already having the material by the bands i liked. luckily my friend was playing it and i did find some new good bands i'd never heard.. break the silence and much the same. came to find out, as you said, both of those songs are available on their web sites, but i found new bands nonetheless. thanks sub city! Yeah, it's time for Hopeless/Subcity to put these comps to bed, seems like the CD and the tour are a bit of a stiff It's naive to consider this comp a throwaway on the basis that "some" people might already have heard a lot of these songs. In fact, a lot more people probably haven't heard these songs and the wide range of bands should allow someone to discover something new, while supporting a good cause. whole lotta nothin' | Features
