I'm sick of being professional. This CD is lame, plain and simple. I won't waste more words on it than I have to.

Big Collapse have put out an album that serves no point. It's really boring alterna-rock with waaaaay too much guitar wankery [seriously, someone take away their guitarist's wah-wah pedal]. To top it off, the vocals are really, really high-pitched and annoying as hell. There's a handful of good hooks on this album, but the rudimentary-at-best, mentally-challenged at worst lyrics make me never want to listen to this again. I won't even quote an example - that's how bad it is.

Oh yeah, this band has ex-members of seminal hardcore bands Shift and Burn. Don't let it fool you. This is lame.

damn scott, i usually agree with on reviews, but.... this cd isnt bad at all.

    Scott,
Why don't you eat your mother's dick? You were obviously looking to get Shift or Burn when you played this record which this band NEVER claimed to sound like. Who the hell wants to hear the same shit?

This record is awesome and this band probably doesn't need meathead fans like yourself anyway. Loser.

i liked them better as the juliana theory, and even then i didn't like them much...wait...this is the juliana theory right?

this band is great, especially live. I'm sure you gave a 15 second listen to all of 2 songs before posting this. Just because a band isn't signed to Vagrant or Drive Thru doesn't mean they suck. I wish there were music reviewers who can appreciate something different.

Four words: Retire as a reviewer.

    News flash folks;

"I'm sick of being professional" means, loosely translated, "I'm too lazy to spend any of my time writing an actual review of this record."

Which I guess says something right there.

I have no doubt this sucks, but c'mon Scott...do your duty and spend more than 5 miutes ripping these people a new arse.

At least you warned us at the beginning that you'd be half-assing it, so props to that.

umm, i guess this isn't that amazing, but i've sure as hell heard a lot worse that has been proclaimed here as a lot better. i'm NOT sticking up for the band, just trying to make a point. and that is, that, as pointless as this band truly is, there are fifty fucking thousand bands just as pointless being reviewed here as better.

    FortyMinutesWest (October 10, 2003)

Lame, and Burn is one of my favorite bands, so this is a major disappointment.

quit trying to be Buddyhead...or something.

    cheers, scott.

Wow, I figured you guys would all be like "quit trying to be Buddyhead" or something. Glad you appreciate the honesty.

this cd sounds amazing just based on the review. think i can get it at hmv?

    Anonymous (October 10, 2003)

I did a review for this album for www.sayrah.net, and it was pretty similar to this one. They are such a bad band who really just bites Quicksand and the Foo Fighters really hard.

    "It's really boring alterna-rock"

Truer words were never spoken. Surprised Tooth & Nail didn't pick these (I'll be nice and not say "fuckers") guys up. I wouldn't have been the least bit suprised.

    Anonymous (October 10, 2003)

so what you're saying is...it sucks?

Yes! Scott's reviews are the best when he is mean and brutally honest. I wish more webzines would understand that industry cocksucking does not have to take place.
