Sex & Subversion is the second in a series of THICK Records' cheapo compilations, with the first one being Love and Rebellion, released last year. This CD is in the same vein as the last, serving simply as a label sampler but also giving the listener what they really want: unreleased tracks. Please login or register to post comments. Hey...i didnt even realize he was gone... where is superdude Right now in the white house someone is saying to his friend by the water cooler "well we finally fired that old guy we hired to run our oil division....lets just hope the next guy isnt such a fascist dictator." then they share a hearty chuckle and discuss how to further stem off the coming wave of pollutant free energy sources. i think its time for iraq to get NATOIZED!! now they just need to catch Goldstein...err, I mean Osama. Nothing funnier than people being hurt or injured, eh? They're glorifying the whole event a bit too much. The coalition force in itself is almost as deadly as having Saddam in a position of power. "4 killed, 60 injured in celebration of Saddam's capture" Hopefully it will slow down the attacks, considering a few of my friends are in Iraq right now... wait, what about osama? meh... hopefully it'll deter the car bombings and terrorist strikes.. but i doubt it will. off topic, yes, but any thoughts on the supposed capture of Saddam? Are those mermaid boobs on the cover? A.R.E T.H.E B.O.O.B.S B.A.R.E ? Scott, you sold me with the last paragraph. Actually, the Tossers being involved will sell me on nearly anything. The boobs are nice. Not dirty punk rock boobs, nice boobs. And beyond that, New Black is awesome. I've had a chance to hear the record and it blew me away..and hell I hated the demos. Apparently they've posted what I'd say is the best song on the CD on their site http://www.newblack.net. I think thick may have some songs on their site, but who knows. "new Blue Meanies song" = greatest fucking thing i've heard all day. To answer a couple questions, the live song from The Arrivals is Dave doing a They Might Be Giants Song (which was actually recorded on my radio show called radio free chicago [http://www.radiofreechicago.org]). Also, the New Black song is from their demo. It was the only song from the demo that was re-recorded and sounds a buttload better. They are currently, seriously, the best band in chicago. i remember.. back when I was a tike (ok.. fifth grade?... '95ish?), didn't know any better, and listened to alternative radio, and heard the "bound for the floor" song by Local H and just loved it. Unfortunately I had no income at the time and bought no CD's, but oh, even at a young age, I had a decent taste for music. Of course i had no idea what a copasthetic was.. but whatever. Good band, that local h. MEANIES! MEANIES! The world sucks without 'em... "-The new Blue Meanies song, "Short Attention Span." Faster, louder, and just all-around better than most of their other posthumous compilation efforts, I gotta wonder how much more of this is locked up in the THICK vault. I also gotta wonder why the hell they just don't get back together already." The Arrivals version of Negative 1 / Hell Can Wait is full blown electric. It was remixed by Lance Reynolds for the Sex & Subversion Comp (and sounds a million times better than the album version). holy shit, i would buy just this for boobs. Is the Arrivals song just the version of -1/Hell Can Wait from the Experiments in Audio Rocketry comp? The in-studio acoustic version? If so, that's wicked lame. Thick has this comp online for $.99 cents. The Blue Meanies track alone is worth that. stand out songs from The Methadones, The GC5, and The Tossers. |
