There are a few geniuses in punk rock and Ben Weasel is definitely one of them. Whether it's in Screeching Weasel, The Riverdales, or his solo shit the man can write a kick ass tune and he has been doing it for years. Television City Dream is a bit of a change for Screeching Weasel. Gone are the Dan's (Vapid and Panic) and on board are Mass Giorgini and Dan Lumley as well as some dude who has not been seen or heard from since. As a longtime Weasel fan I have to say I was a bit skeptical at first since the Dan's have been there for most of Screeching Weasel's best days... but the newcomers do a great job and TVCD is actually a pretty fantastic album. not the best weasel record, but not the worst. i'm sad that the reviewer failed to mention "dummy up". i'm so in love with you http://www.los-angeles-casino.com/lanir/casino-directory-2005.htm l No one mentioned "crying in my beer"(wiggle) This was just recently reviewed. Cool. When I first listened to Sw I was in 7th grade and my buddy bought "Bark Like A Dog" cause we knew they were a punk band. We knew shit. He hated it (or maybe just didn't like it that much), but I fell in love. i'm the fucking dali llama princess! That was meant to read "TOP 1O PLUS 3" by the way... SCREECHING WEASEL'S "TOP 1o 3" TUNES? Honestly, the production on this album steals it. "My Brain Hurts" and "Anthem for a New Tomorrow"are right there, but there is just something about this album thats almost, well, magical. Whenever I here 'Count to Three' lead into "Speed of Mutation' I get shivers. Every drum beat, ever chord, every snooty croon from Ben, man it all sounds soooo perfect. I have even referred to this as the best PRODUCTION I have ever heard on an album. And I'm not even a rabid SW fan. My barin hurts is their best album BY FAR. I saw the Methadones in september, and got 'Career Objectives' a few weeks ago. Even after a few months lay off, i still recognized about half the songs. www.methadones.com Great album, kind of has a "Major Label Debut" feel (which was only recorded a few months before TCD). I've always liked SW at their fastest and most clever, and this album has alot of thoes types of songs. Mmm...good point - Wiggle...liking it. their best album is Wiggle, and then Bogada.... in a close second. Kill the Musicians is still a classic. Is there anyone here who's favourite SW record is Bark Like A Dog? my 'best of SW' vote is for "my brain hurts" IS on the brat, sorry...anyway i guess you didn't misquote me, but rather mis-inferred what my meaning was or something. "Now I recognize and respect that your opinion says BOOGADAx3 should be SW's most-mentioned record, but to say that it was their best is to say anything they did after was crap." 16, really? i never knew that. "what the hell is with the lyrics to Nicaragua?" what the hell is with the lyrics to Nicaragua? from what i remember, there was crap like "i dont give a fuck about nicaragua" and "i dont give a shit" about this and that...those lyrics have always pissed me off... "suburban white kids trying to show theyve got compassion", i mean, thats funny, but if you think about the attack in any depth its fucking stupid. "if you're gonna shoot up, don't use dirty needles". this is a great album. Does anybody know exactly what the cover art for this disc is? Teen Punks in Heat as your fav album eh? Thats an interesting choice. "...noticed the lack of praise for BOOGADABOOGADABOOGADA! i didn't read all the comments, but noticed the lack of praise for BOOGADABOOGADABOOGADA! ah...screeching weasel, my love... I like the cover art a lot. Vindictives' Many Moods is a better album in the rehashed-ramones style of punk, though. the "anonymous dude who disappeared, named Zak" was also the singer/guitarist of the bands Zoinks!, who were very very awesome This album is decent, but I would have to rate "Wiggle" as my favorite and "My Brain Hurts" a close #2. I like both bands, but Blink owes these guys everything. Also, the "Boogada" album cover T-shirt is probably one of the best I ever owned. It was plain, but that weasel face with the leather jacket fucking ruled. This album wasn't great, but still pretty nice. I need more. "Anthem for a New Tomorrow" is one of the best punk albums ever. And if you think it's only for kids, then maybe your tastes aren't that mature anyways! i think its illegal to listen to this cd after you turn 20. funny for an old school laugh, like the queers or pennywise S.W. is the best Street/Raw Pop-Punk band ever! "it's the best album they've done since 1993's "Our Bodies Ourselves," and that's saying a lot." - Ben Weasel on the new MTV (via Weasel Manor) kill the musicians and my brain hurts are essential, this album isn't but it's still better than your favorite album. ughhh, definately the most overrated punk band of all time score's for the intelectual content of mtx's lyrics. I love the new MTX! the dude that hasn't been seen or heard from since actually put out an album on Honest Don's under the band name "Big in Japan" his name is Zach if I recall correctly. HOLY FUCKING SHIT AS IF YOU REVIEWED THIS RECORD. Their best produced album and it is in my opinion only behind "My Brain Hurts" in overall greatness Best Screeching Weasel album ever. Speaking of Screeching Weasel, i wonder what Ben Weasel thinks of the new MTX album. Speaking of the new MTX album, wheres that review!?! |
