Well, The Disease features some future members of TADGoS as well as members of Guyana Punchline and Index for Potential Suicide and they are every bit as off the wall. The album starts off sounding a lot like that annoying “Da Da Da” song that was in a commercial a few years back, before it goes into a sound that could only be referred to as abrasive. The music is danceable, but at the same time disjointed and chaotic. If they have dance parties in hell, I bet this band is on their mixtape. Much like The Avenging Disco Godfathers of Soul, these guys use a wide array of instruments such as clarinet, sax, synth, etc. The electronic elements of this band are highly prevalent through most of the tracks, but the music still manages to be intense and unforgiving. The guitars are like chainsaws and the vocals are just as sharp and cutting. “Bad Review In The New Heartattack” for example, features an eerie synth passage that sounds like orchestral music played by the undead. In other cases, such as “I Want A Mustache, Damnit” The Disease prefers to use a more straightforward attack, straightforward by the standards of this album of course. I think the best example of the band’s overall sound is the song “These Needles Are Magnets”, it shows the band’s penchant for chaos along song strange synth parts. Once again, Alone Records comes through with a quality release that is both original and fun to listen to. It’s a shame this band was with us for such a short time, but they certainly left us with something to remember them by. Please login or register to post comments. This review was good, but here's how I would make it better: Don't worry about it, I'm just surprised I didn't catch that one myself.
