Good album, but Sadness Prevails and Diagram For Healing are still better. I absolutely love these guys. I'm only disappointed that they are opening for Finger 11 here, so I have to pay more to see them, but it will still be work every penny. No Motiv is the most underrated band I can think of. I hope these guys finally get the attention they deserve. This album is damn good but, I liked A Diagram for Healing better. no motive deserves the support from the x-games. vagrant is totally hooking them up, and that is awesome. this album is pretty decent too, i enjoy it. X-Games in general suck the cock. Whenever I want to see some quality snowboarding, I have to sit through "Skier X Racing" and fucking motocross on snowmobiles. ok grammer fag. and age does usually matter, theres literature supporting that. throughout the history of rock music, the best bands have written their best works in their mid to late 20's, after that it usually goes down hill, gets boring, stagnant, redundant or overly experimental. and before that it is usually undeveloped and immature sounding. look through your cd collection and tell me otherwise, there are exceptions, but overall, mid 20's is the best time for songwriting, look at the beatles. " might pick this up out of curiosity to see if they delivered on the potential heard on their last album, their 24 now and should be coming into their own as songwriters." The score is for the review. This band needs to be baker acted! I wish you were sexually active enough to contract herpes. I hate you. is that supposed to be a pussy? if it is u r fucked up! ((((((())))))))))))) "Actually sickboi, I just want to work for an independently-owned club and book shows and small concerts." The song Brand New Day from that Vagrant dvd was what introduced me to No Motiv.....finally a year and a half later it comes out on cd and they had to change it.....fuck......but the new version is still the best song on the cd so it's all good. and to kiss artists asses whenever the chance presents itself. Actually sickboi, I just want to work for an independently-owned club and book shows and small concerts. I thought the concept for the review was pretty cool... and I'm fairly sure this a record review so post-graduate experience probably isn't required. So in other words, you want to be either a slimeball A&R rep, or a filthy agent? "What's with all this "I have an english degree" shit" those son of a bitches at best buy charged me twice for this. Now I'm gonna have to wait like 45 minutes in thier shitty ass return lane. FUCK. It is a really good cd though a definte step up from their past two releases. And the reviews not bad, I don't like it but it's not bad. i think the review is really good. its obvious he is a fan of the band, and he is familiar enough with the old material to see the connection. he is just trying to comment on the bands progression (which is hard enough to do given that each one of their albums have different sounds and themes). the psychobabble may have been a little too much, but it doesn't replace the fact that the review is solid and full of content. i liked it almost as much as i like this album. i bought it yesterday, and its amazing. this review sucks balls. you seem like your trying to write a really intelligent review when really its stupid and one of the crappiest reviews i've ever seen. ""i agree these guys don't get much attention, but cmon, they arent in the same league as alk3, saves the day or the get up kids" i liked the review. i don't like the band. I'm digging the holga(or equivelant) picture on the cover, not because it's a good picture, but because Holgas rule. these dorks opened for the suicide machines here recently. talk about terrible. i couldnt tell where the songs ended and began. plus the singer opens up his eyes really big to try and look "intense." he just looks constipated. stop wasting bandwith on these clowns. using big words is so overated you narcisistic assholes If you kids can't understand such big words as Cynical or Trauma then go fuck yaselves ya bastards. Great review. At least someone around here that visits this site a lot gave a nice, refreshing outlook on a new album. How can you find this difficult to understand? If you lazy shits took more than a minute to read it then you could learn something. Oh yeah. I'm on the computer responding to some well respected kids at some punk website. I must be so awesome myself. later fags. Wow someone tries to do something interesting with a review and everyone just complains up the wazoo. Thats all anyone does here...complain. In fact, I'm compplaning about the complaining. woo hoo!!! What a shity ass review. What's with all this "I have an english degree" shit. Preface.....fucking come on. People want emotion. Not mindless college speak. The cover reminds me of the last As Hope Dies CD. As Hope Dies smokes this band. i agree. the old "brand new day" song rocked. but since i don't own a copy of that, the new one is just fine. garbage review. someone translate it into english please "i think they definitely nailed it on the album." To all you critics who are so quick to judge adversely, may we please see you write a review, a record, a song, a guitar riff, or anything creative for that matter, that's worthy of the greatness you so desperately are in search of? This is not a rhetorical question. I actually agree about Brand New Day and I also think the Into The Darkness demo from a year ago had some good things the album version has since changed this cd rules. not as good as 'diagram' though. to the guy complaining about brand new day... the first real version they recorded for the album (after the demo) was actually much slower and less punchy. the label then asked them to go back and re-record the song for a more radio friendly sound... and when it comes down to it, thats what the final album version of the song is. i actually think the demo sounded way too poppy (seeing how it was produced by john feldmann of goldfinger). i think they definitely nailed it on the album. The score is for the 4/4 time. For fuck's sake! I have no issue with Inagreendase's reviews, however I would really prefer some greater variety with the new batch of reviews! While I have no problem with them, I will admit that his writing is not exactly that favorable to myself personally; I really am a greater fan of the work from other staff reviewers. Now I know this is not quite my place as no service is owed to me, and that other reviewers may not have as much time, but really, lately the new reviews seem to be dominated by a noteable amount of user submitted reviews spliced with a few from Inagreendase. These dudes put songs together much more effectively than Hey Mercedes. Both bands are great, but I'd have to give the edge to No Motiv. three observations: the production is bad in the sense that its too clean and really heavy on the guitars, similar to alkaline's good mourning. i also heard some echoing of the voice, kind of lame... If I thought "Sadness" and "Diagram" were mediocre Face to Face sounding albums, would this one change my mind? Seriously, because I try to like this band, but I haven't been able to get into them. I saw them on tour opening for alkaline, i gotta say they kicked ass, def better than the shit that followed- FATA, and reggie. And they like jawbreaker, or so ive heard from the good people at buddyhead and that sits well with me. I like the record. Just bought it today. yea i did kinds think of CKY when i heard that song. def. not much like the rest of the album, that song sounds pretty much like their shot at the big time I've only heard 3 songs from this album so far, but they were really damn good. yea i have a degree in psych from pitt, your review rely's heavily on bullshit. definately wouldnt fly as a real psychoanalysis. just be sure to shout "NAAAAAAARDCORE!!!!" when you see them play. they love it. really. Into the darkness is a really good song "i agree these guys don't get much attention, but cmon, they arent in the same league as alk3, saves the day or the get up kids" "Into The Darkness is going to be the theme song for the 2004 Olympics" They'll be getting attention soon considering that Into The Darkness is going to be the theme song for the 2004 Olympics. No, it's not a rumor. And I think this just sounds like CKY or something. I didn't like old No Motiv very much and it's better than this. yea its ok, about as good as the last one. this one is a little more heavy/rock oriented (i guess the foo fighters comparison is ok) and less pop punk but i wouldnt call it dark and at least they didnt decide to scream in the breakdowns like every other band these days jumping on the taking back thursday bandwagon. the vocal melodies are a little more sophisticated. it reminds me alot of unwritten law, if all their songs sounded like 'seein red', the guys voice sounds real similar on this album. sorta hey mercedes like too. "you like these guys but consider the Little Killers monotonous? Get your head out of your ass. These fat pieces of shit put me to sleep live." now i know why vagrant delayed this album. it's actually good. it's very moody and has a little foo fighters mix in as well. the whole album is up for free streaming at vh1.con. check it out. Oh jesus, you like these guys but consider the Little Killers monotonous? Get your head out of your ass. These fat pieces of shit put me to sleep live. i agree these guys don't get much attention, but cmon, they arent in the same league as alk3, saves the day or the get up kids. i will say they are better than hey mercedes or moneen, who probably get more attenion than them. i know the new saves the day is misunderstood and not liked by most fans (i for one love it, but 3 years ago i would have said it is shit) but nothing no motiv has written holds a candle to stay what you are or through being cool. To the last guy; i always feel bad for this band. they work really hard and put out super good records and they get 1/25 of the attention that other, worse bands on the same label get haha. yeah. shut up about your education. this is music. pipe down fools. To the cunt below, thanks for clearing that up, poindexter. yea i have a degree in psych from pitt, your review rely's heavily on bullshit. definately wouldnt fly as a real psychoanalysis. seriously, i'm more of a fan of this band having listened to this. In anticipation of questioning: wheres the review for the new inspection 12 record. its getting older by the day. soon i wont be able to call it new id just like to be the first to say that bob smells like a fricken taco, i think he sleeps in jalepono beds cuz i just wanna put lettuce on him and eat him up... hes so poor that he eats only like twice a day... and tahts pushing it!..you know your a fricken texican |
