its just music you fucking retards I didn't find The Vandals very funny Radiohead's Bends, Kid A and Ok computer are all considered near perfect and classic albums. The Beatles pretty much released nothing but classics (sgt. peppers, white album, abbey road, rubber soul, revolver, hard days night, help!). The rolling stones have at least 3 classics, along with Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen. Jay Z's the blueprint, black album and reasonable doubt are all considered hip hop classics. Tu Pac and Biggie released many classics, all 3 eminem albums are accalaimed. Led Zepplin 1,2,4, and houses of the holy are classic. I meant productive talent... Hell, I like Wire and the Swell Maps, and they never were too orthodox with their guitars. Of course, do the Vandals or NOFX have 1/10th the talent of any of those bands? And I heavily doubt that the Vandals would still be around had it not been for the pop-punk explosion... Staying together, being a "road crew" is worthy of respect, just churning out gambless pop shit for quick cash is not. The Ramones' first 3 are considered classic, the Clash had their S/T, "London Calling", and "Sandanista!", which is a classic because it was one the first (and last?) punk record to be that long. All of the Stooges' records (totalling 3) are considered classic, the Who has made probably 5 or 6 trully classic albums, PiL's first 3 records are excellent, Bob Marley's recorded output can also not be underestimated. This is fucking ridiculous. Alright, I agree that some of these bands' latest albums weren't as good as their first ones, but does this mean they really have to retire? Isn't it really amazing that these people who are mostly in their 30's are still around? Doesn't that tell something about how much they love this thing they are doing? You can't convince me that these guys are just doing it for the money or something. They have every goddamn RIGHT to be around, after treating is with all these incredible releases that they have delivered us in the past. Personally I admire them for sticking close to a sound that never will grow old on me. Both Bad Religion and NOFX delivered one of their best albums in their discography recently. And it's quite normal that a band can't deliver the same superb album more than twice in their careers. Or could you name me one band that released 3 or more really CLASSIC releases? "lets all face the facts lets all face the facts it's a shame, all those shitty old bands are still going meanwhile Fugazi is on "hiatus" after releasing easily one of their best. "vandals, pennywise and bad religeon are long past expiration" i saw no use for a name in 94 and am still confused as shit as to how the hell they are still around 10 years later. they were a boring generic cali pop punk band then and have managed to continue this boringness for such a long long time it's not even funny. your not alone, if you read my post ( a few down with the list in it) youd see i thought blaze was a great cd, in my top 10 of the year i thought lagwagon's last album was really good. am i alone? i'd have no problem with anyone else on that list retiring, though. less than jake will be awesome forever. you are a fool. Wotaboot Offspring. They need to go collect their pension and stop making shite ass records. i agree with the gentleman that named No Use For A Name the most boring band out there. face to face had the right idea Guttermouth Decendents = vandals. horrible equation right there, which sums up the vandals. horrible. god i hope i never have to sit through another 10 minute 'ive got a date' again. i love the descendents and do not even consider the vandals anything to brag about. yeah they came out with a few good songs but they are no descendents. Wow, I'm a true Vandals fan, don't even know the name of their records. My personal Vandals preference from good (1) to not so good (9): Can't believe they're still a band. And the Vandals are great. Just listen to "I Have A Date." "please dont mention the vandals in the same sentence as The Descendants. rising tide > diary please dont mention the vandals in the same sentence as The Descendants. Yeah well DC also had a history of better music than we do in Florida! why should anti-flag retire? while i hear you florida chumps complaining, we here in dc get great shows all the time. black cat, 930, and once in a while nation. Less Than Jake's anthem had some good songs on it (short fuse burning, screw's fall out), but overall a weak record. They did an entire fuckin US tour, and only played 2 radio shows in Florida. So yes, Florida sucks. We get something corporate and yellowcard every 2 months. And whenever there's a decent punk show its in Tampa anyways. And the Vandals are great. Just listen to "I Have A Date." fuck these decipit old geriatrics. they need to go retire. Florida sucks cock and smokes rock while Georgia takes a dump on its mommy. I don't know what part of the state edgie lives in but bad religion has played Orlando numerous times, i've never acutally caught them (other than warped tour one year) but they've played HOB, the Embassy, The Edge (a bunch of times), some club in Melbourne with DHC, played tampa on the blink tour.... "Proof, once again, that 90% of bands are wise to not even tour Flordia because they are cheap bastards who don't buy shit. What a miserable fucking place!" The person like 4 posts down makes a good point, i wouldn't care if all of those bands stopped recording new records, but it would suck if they stopped playing shows. Circle Jerks decided they weren't going to do any more records last I heard but they still tour once in a while. THe old bands are fun to see live, that's what I enjoyed about Face to Face their live shows. I hope i can form an embarrassing Adam Sandler pop-punk band when I'm 40 fucking years old. I can then tell witty jokes and pretend my balding ass isn't thinking about buying that station wagon and condo in florida. I am a big fan of The Vandals I admit, and I will get this as soon as I can mostly because I hope this is better then the Oi to the World DVD (I thought that was a great show filmed badly) but...I have some thoughts. Everyone here drinks doo-doo milkshakes spiked with my mommy's douche. Hmm, all those bands have released an album that doesn't live quite up to their old quality, but if they retired, we wouldn't get to see them live, and then we'd never hear all their awesome old stuff, and then we'd all be miserable. Warren from the vandals isn't very tanned Only 2 words come to mind when I think of the Vandals: "Anarchy Burger". Fuck yeah. Flaming Mike - hitlar bad, vandals good is the best vandals cd. "face to face had the right idea The Vandals have played here (in florida) a few time. They opened for the offspring in like '95 they played with No Doubt in '96 and played the warped tour in 2002! "The only Vandals CD I enjoy is Live Fast, Diarrea. Funny songs that work cause they're played so fast. Their newer shit just sucks. I wouldn't even waste my money on seeing the Vandals live - not that I've ever heard of them coming to Florida before, but still.." i like some old vandals albums, but it's really lame that they dissed agent orange. "living in darkness" is better than anything the vandals or most bands will ever do. The only Vandals CD I enjoy is Live Fast, Diarrea. Funny songs that work cause they're played so fast. Their newer shit just sucks. I wouldn't even waste my money on seeing the Vandals live - not that I've ever heard of them coming to Florida before, but still.. If it hasn't been mentioned, don't forget that you can either purchase the DVD and get a free CD version, or purchase the CD for the free DVD. I don't work for Kung Fu, but it's a pretty good deal. "I'm Palm Palm head - and I wrote one good song - But that was almost 20 years ago - I tried and I tried to follow it up - But you know how those sophomore jinxes go - So I became quite bitter - as sales dropped like flies - No one likes these dumb songs - of racing cars and spies - Maybe it's my ape drape - or hippies in my band - But now we only tour in Arizona - or Japan - So after much thought - and a panel of experts - I came up with a brilliant little plan - I'll take out my frustrations - on one of these ungrateful new punk rock bands - Cuz I invented socks - and I invented gravy - I made up the cotton gin - but no one ever paid me - Why beat a dead horse - with a career that is cursed?" It wouldn't be dumb to retire... If you are going to be around for more than five years, your band should eventually grow its sound. Some of those bands have only been around for a few years, retiring would be stupid! Some of them were never any good to begin with. As for Bad Religion, they are still better than 98 percent of the crap out there! Just because bands make a crappy record or two (and I was not a fan of any of those band's last records) doesn't mean they should retire if that's the case you missed rancid on your list. the guy 3 posts down made a good point. all these bands have been putting out albums that are mediocre compared to what they've done in the past. maybe they shouldn't retire. but they definitely need to do something different. i mean i like the new get up and alkaline albums but don't consider them even half as good as their first couple few. the guy two posts down should think about retiring...to HELL! where's the war? UP YOUR ASS! face to face had the right idea "yah,josh.freese.is.good.but.travis. "Vandals> The Descendants. The Vandals are the originators of pop-punk." vandals > than the descendents??? what the fuck is that guy smoking? the vandals are a second rate novelty punk band at their best. granted the descendents have some stupid songs (no fb for instance) but nothing the vandals ever did could hold up to songs like sour grapes, cheer, pep talk, myage, etc etc etc wow, this review is really attracting the stupid comments, first nufan were "greater than the vandals" now the vandals are greater than the descendents? Gimme a break. Oh and "the originators of pop punk? Wait, did I miss a joke? anyone have a song list for this? Vandals> The Descendants. The Vandals are the originators of pop-punk. yeah, there's only one original member, but that argument's 13 years old, get over it Oh yeah. And I love Internet Dating Superstuds. Love it. can you even call this band the vandals? there's what? one original member? I haven't found this yet. Really want to. I think the songs they chose were good but they could have gotten rid of Behind the music. I hate that song. Also surely the Josh Freese cam is a bit of a waste. I mean basically all he plays in the Vandals is the classic Doot-dat dootdoot dat beat with the occasional pish. People are unnecessarily harsh on the Vandals. They write catchy tunes and play fast punk. What's not to like? Don't trust my opinion though, I really enjoyed Internet Dating Superstuds. Bad Religion and NOFX should give up before these guys. like death, this band around for ages, and it's something we all fear. Is the comment below a declaration of fondness for NUFAN or was it meant to read like "the vandals suck so much that even NUFAN is better!"? Either way you should probably cut down to smoking only three rocks a day. yah,josh.freese.is.good.but.travis. no use for a name > vandals Hmm, I feel a strong need to buy this. The 3 posts before me were all from the same guy - the I.P. address is the same for all of them. Worst pop-punk band ever? |
