In the short two years since the band's inception, With Honor have made quite a name for themselves. Featuring members of Hamartia and In Pieces, With Honor have quickly become one of the most talked about bands in the Connecticut hardcore community. With 'Heart Means Everything', their first full length, CT's best kept secret has finally leaked out.

The 5 song demo released last year by Stillborn Records is what first introduced me to the band, and I was blown away by how energetic it was. The most prominent feature of With Honor's sound is their incredible sing alongs (somewhat similar to those of Comeback Kid). The backing vocals are in your face, and they turn already great songs into instantly memorable tracks that you'll find yourself singing no matter where you are. The strong back-ups aren't the only things driving these songs however, as the powerful drumming and speeding guitar melodies truly stand out and make you take notice.

The songs include the standard breakdowns and double bass pedal assaults, but don't let that fool you into thinking that With Honor's sound is generic, because they truly stand out from the pack. Stand out songs on the album for me are "Rethink, Return", "With The Wind", and "All Hope Aside". The lyrics range from straight edge pride, to broken friendships, to reminders that "you're not alone" in life's struggles. If you like hardcore, you have no excuse not to at least give these guys a listen.

    My Score:

just a fun hardcore record with no big flaws or anything. Buy this, but if you see Come Back Kid's record in there, get that instead.

An excellent follow-up from these CT fellas. This record is wonderful. Simply oozing with positive energy, like a neo-Youth of Today (Except better....I'm waiting for the Ray Cappo Youth Crew 85er's to jump out and issue threats to me). They also put on a spectacular live show, one of the best I've seen in awhile.

    My Score:

Yeah, With Honor are pretty 'tough guy' - just like 7 Seconds and The Get Up Kids.

Good album, but pales in comparison to the EP.

I get the point cool, you're youth crew again, awesome....wait overproduced youth crew? I can only imagine what's going on in the studio, "hey , let's just put you're yelling and what not through this autotune here and...hey look at that!"

For the life of me, I fail to see the point of spending your time stressing about what you dont like, and what others do like. Nobody forces you to listen to a certain genre, so whats the big deal? Personally, I prefer to spend my time worrying about the stuff I DO like, as I find it to be a better use of my time. Rock what you like, like what you rock, and let others do the same.

P.S. For the poster below that said this is tough guy hardcore, it isnt, it fits more into the posi-core sound.

If you compare this band with 25 Ta Life, you either didn't listen to them, or you have really bad hearing. And this isn't tough guy hardcore.

I cannot in words explain to all of you my hatred and contempt for tough guy hardcore. Bad vocals, horid lyrics, repetitive guitar, and lame singalongs. Whoo fucknig hoo.

Honestly, this band sucks. Same with Embrace Today, Madball, xDrug Testx, 25 Ta Life, and the like.

Tough Guy hardcore is bad music, and always will be bad music.

I thought this album was let down by it's ultra-smooth production, it seemed to rob the songs of emotional a little. I like a bit of crunch in my hardcore. That's entirely personal though, the songs are well written and the message is a good one.

solid band. the albums are alright but don't really do the band justice. if you like these guys, be sure to check out "the risk taken" as well.
