I remember “Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses” had that sticker on the packaging that proclaimed Atreyu to be the perfect voice of metalcore or something like that. I still think that album is one of the better that the genre has seen, and so the new Atreyu album has been one of the ones I was more excited about hearing this year. Oh my god this album is so good, at sucking dick. fucking love them Ummm, I would have to agree with you on some points, but you have to admit that even after all that, they are still pretty awesome. I will say that at first they were the essential metalcore, but on the Curse, they seemed to copy other bands styles, (see A7X comment), and that kind of disappointed me. They went from metalcore, to metal, to........softcore, kinda. But, as a true Atreyu fan, I'm gunna keep my hopes up they they will do better on the next album and show all the people who totally bashed The Curse how fucking awesome they are!!!! I didnt like atreyu's last two albums. In my opinion this one rocks, its a bit easier to understand and i can actua;ly sing some of the songs. i know they did soften out a little bit on thier style but mayb that wasn't such a bad thing? more people like them now. Either way i love atreyu alex is sexxxxxiii i love this cd it inspirted me and my band (last fatal breath) to become metal. recomended songs: right side of the bed i like this cd, but suicide notes and butterfly kisses was better, the thing about this cd is that, at the starting of almost all of the songs the singer does hardcore screaming but then during the chorus the other guy sings like it is a love song or something, im serious, it is not a good mix, if they have another album, i hope it isnt like this one. this is a good cd , i like atreyu, one of my favorites, but i do like suicide notes and butterfly kisses more. In all my life, I have never come across a band as terrible as Atreyu. A Static Lullaby, Hawthorne Heights, My Chemical Romance and Story Of The Year run close behind, however. Man I am hardcore, I have camo pants, a dirty hoodie, combat boots, and a shaved head that makes me the music review God and I can flame anything that has a breakdown. Seriously, all you hardcore bitches make me sick. Branch out a little bit and try listening to a wider variety of music, you might find have a little fun. Also, I like this album, it is probably my second favorite album behind only Suicide Notes. Does that make me a fag. No it just means that I like Atreyu's music. If you don't like an album don't buy it and don't listen to the music. There is no reason to go all nazi-hardline (yes that was a shot at hardline kids) it just makes you sound like a moron. It's amazing how Atreyu's music makes 'an Anne Rice novel come to life'. It's awesome how they've used the Vampire Chronicles for inspiration on this album. i say this album is excellent. i bought it the day it came out and im impressed w/ this album but its not as heavy as suicide notes and butterfly kisses!!!!! I posted my last comment without reading the people's below me, and it basically just resaid what they said. And I couldn't agree more with them, about just enjoying shit. I'm really not into this band too much, but I just think "Bleeding Mascara" has a catchy chorus. That's about it. I can't stand the screaming singer though. give me a pair of arabian goggles and I will wear them "Am I the only one who enjoyed 'Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses' better than this? It sounded more raw. 'The Curse' is over-produced to hell. " good point guy below me. my one friend only listens to shit like fugazi and the mars volta, grandaddy, etc. thinking music. he's pretentious as fuck and has NO fun. Who cares if this album is shitty? Chances are I'm going to end up buying it anyway. Why? For the same reason I buy a lot of other shitty music: because it's catchy, or because I liked one hook/break down. Everyone has at least one really shitty CD in their collection whether they admit it or not, and I'm not talking about bad, I'm talking about something that would embarass you if you're friends found out you it had bad. That's what's really the problem. There are so many people trying to be stuck up, scene nazis that your missing the point: IT'S JUST GOD DAMN MUSIC! I can see the point of wanting quality music with a solid message, but it's nice to step back once and a while and listen to something without any message, without any real thought, else my head might explode from all the serious thinking I'm doing. That's right, I own Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory and there's nothing you can say or do to prevent me from listening to that mindlessly shitty music. Am I the only one who enjoyed 'Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses' better than this? It sounded more raw. 'The Curse' is over-produced to hell. TOO MUCH singing. I like how it was "sprinkled" in on the first full-length. The Curse is heading farther into the direction of A Static Lullaby and new Uneroath. I'm really disappointed with this. Of course, these guys will get bigger and bigger and we'll hear more singing and more poppy melodies and more over-production and see black finger nail polish with white-studded belts. jesus do we really need ttwo reviews of this vampire crap? wow, so he sings like cookie monster and that guy from death by stereo about sucking blood or cock or whatever. and they wear makeup, blackhair dye and shit. fashioncore. wow. so rad. this shit sucks. if you want a really good new wave ska/keyboard rock band, go get the new aquabats E.P. Go buy the new Arsis instead. I liked this band at some point. ""ensigns hardcore punk, not metalcore"" and bane isn't very good.... ensigns hardcore punk, not metalcore in all honesty, this isn't hardcore or metal . This is a sick/shitty version of it's value's and what it's about. Calling atreyu hardcore or metal, is like calling simple plan 'punk'. My favorite thing about this review was it was fueled by anger. The CD was reviewed, got its fluffed up score of a 4(we all know it deserved a 2) and now this kid reviews it and give it an 8. Why the hell was this cookie monster crap reviewed AGAIN? you know that band is good? ISIS. let's all go listen to ISIS. If you're all so anti-fashion, why do you pay attention to what they're wearing? Listen to the music instead of looking at their clothes. This shit sucked the first time someone wrote a review about it. "i had the misfortune of seeing the live last year at krazy fest. the whole time they just posed, tried to look cool, and lacked any form of sincerity or honesty whatsoever. it's called trend-jumping. also, they've been quoted in articles where flyers made FATA seem like they were headlining over atreyu and he complained that they didn't want to seem like they were some "shitty-ass opening bands." boy, it sure it hard being atreyu..." "very will haven record cover, gnarly" "how do you know they dont want to make this kind of music? quit being a pretentious queermo" how do you know they dont want to make this kind of music? quit being a pretentious queermo "quit being a fucking sally, crybaby "the decline of the decline of western civilization has given us this record" a cute bra wearing emo white girl on the cover, as I am too a white suburbanite, I find this mysterious and alluring as to the many underneath the surface emotions that this record probes, into the dark dark places of my soul. Why do both reviews on here have it backwards? This album is way better than "Suicide Notes...". That album was terrible. The screamer sounded like he was throwing up when he screamed. The whole band is way better now. And aside from the dumbass title, "Bleeding Mascara" is an awesome song. I don't really like these guys, but this album is way, way better than their previous one. that last one was me "it's music that claims to be a part of something with a long history. it's music that claims to be part of something that means something. and it's music that cheapens and exploits that something. "what is the point? why does there need to be a point? its music.." I've not listened to the radio in ages so I wouldn't know. Unoriginal "essentially, if you like this band, you have no understanding of what hardcore is really about." "Five Vicodin Chased Down With a Shot of Clarity" seems like a complete rip off of an Alkaline Trio song. Hey Kids, Petro B Pettson here. Found a review of this band that I thought you might wanna check out. This guy's reviews are usually spot on, and I probably won't buy the album to make sure, so on with the cut n' paste..... Five Vicodin Chased Down With a Shot of Clarity=greatest Atreyu song ever oh what the eff. that last post is supposed to say 2< e "frankenberry, boo berry and count chocula > atreyu" frankenberry, boo berry and count chocula > atreyu Why was this shit reviewed again? why cant people just like whatever band they want anymore. just cause the really "hardcore" children dont think this is hardcore enough means that people still cant enjoy it? essentially, if you like this band, you have no understanding of what hardcore is really about. this shit sucks. go get the new unearth Your review seemed to be a tad too negative to merit a four-star rating, do you actually like it a lot or is the star rating wrong? I'm still undecided about getting this one. Atreyu used to be ok. "Bleeding Mascara" isnt that bad. The singing fucking sucks. Atreyu ruins any good feelings I have towards their music as soon as the singer comes in... |
