Published on July 16th 2004 After an interesting debut with "The Architecture Is Still Burning," Thorp Records decided to release Forever Is Forgotten's demo, "Dying Beautiful." Upon the re-release of this EP, Thorp tossed in a couple live tracks for your listening pleasure. On their first recordings, the Milwaukee band shows what would come later. "Dying Beautiful" showcases the band's penchant for melody and chaos rather well, and although most of these songs are on the band's full-length, it still makes for a good listen. Some of the most melodic parts on this disc remind me of "Opposite of December" era Poison the Well, minus the singing. However, the band's aggressive side is still shown. As there are still plenty of tempo and stylistic shifts to keep the listener's attention, as well as the crushing riffs that fans of this band have come to expect. While not exactly cut from the same mold as their tech metal inspired peers, Forever Is Forgotten still holds their own. What the band lacks in pure technical ability, they make up for in intensity and catchy riffs. The live portion of the EP features the band's new vocalist, CJ Krueger. The live songs sound good, and surprisingly clean. I was expecting the songs to sound completely muffled, but luckily, they sound about as good as a live song from a smaller band is going to sound. If you're looking for a band that plays urgent and chaotic music, but doesn't forget about the melody, this band should appeal to you. Even the most frantic moments of this EP have memorable riffs attached to them. Although this release isn't exactly new, it's still worth checking out. I'm looking forward to hearing some new music from these guys.

What does the name have to do with the music? Their music is not their album cover art nor is it their names, it is the carefully chosen arrangements of melodical genius. In the case of Forever Is Forgotten, their carefully chosen musical selections are, if anything, frapulent at best. That word doesn't actually exist, but no real word could describe the crapulence of it all. Yeah, the name is stupid, and the cover art sucks, but the music is good. i wont be moving past the super generic emo name myself.... its just getting REAL bad guys... real bad score's for the album artwork and the name, What are the lyrics? I assumed it was a cover since, you know, two punk bands with the same song title, especially when one is recognized as the greatest of their genre, what are the chances? the casualties song and discharge song have the same title, but the lyrics are different. The Casualties have a habit of making good songs really shitty... I can see how it would blend in with every song, it might just stand out as "hm, this one is halfway well written using the classic 'punx' formula". Funny, I didnt even think of it at the time. That's just one of the many things I'd would change about that review, that and the fact that it isn't really funny. I haven't listened to that album for ages, so I don't even remember if it was a cover or an origjnal song with the same name. I wrote that review really fast, so it's not surprising that some things slipped through the cracks. I'll tell you this though, if it was a cover, it blended in with every other track. It's even funnier because I have Why sitting around here somewhere. Hey Forty I just read your Casualties review and do you not know that "Tomorrow Belongs to Us" is a Discharge song? oh lord. id never thought i would hear of these guys again. as a mistake i picked up a copy of "the architecture is still burning." i was not pleased. the music is good.. the vocals are awful. not a word of comprehendable lyrics. and it was scary as anything. kind of made me feel like i was being chased. i dont think ill be getting any of this either. Ohh...I have the original demo of this. I wonder if I can get anything out of it on eBay. i havent heard this but "the architecture..." was fuckin amazing How can forever be forgotten? |
