Seeing any band for the 6th time might take away from their live show, but not Rise Against, and definitely not if its at Mad Planet in Milwaukee. Mad Planet is a VERY small club that holds maybe 150 people at the most, so the bands are right on top of you, very intimate. Opening acts were a local band Invalid, followed by A Wilhelm Scream, and then Stretch Arm Strong. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
I remember AWS when they used to be call Smacking Isaiah. That was a couple years ago. Reach the Sky was an awsome band too. THier final show was great. All three bands have been working their asses off for years, and continue to make music for the right reasons. It's rare to see a lineup like this, where no matter what, you need to respect what these bands do. It's not a contest of who's a better band. It's bands trying to bring back some of what punk rock and hardcore is all about. I think a lot of people are missing the point. I enjoyed being there. AWS's new cd is good, but honestly, the cheesey metal guitar tone needs to be toned down on their next album. that's really the only thing that gets to me. other than that the songs are great. Most likely the kids that couldn't get into AWS were the same lamos that went there to see Rise Against. Not that RA is a bad band, but they seem to have a really trendy following, alot of people who really aren't into the scene for the music but more for fashion and social status. this is probably one of the best tours Stretch Arm Strong owns. I was at this concert and it was amazing. So glad to see Rise Against in such an intamite (sic) setting. A Wilhelm Scream was great for the second time in a month. A shame most people couldnt get into them it seemed. It seemed like I was the only one singing along and trying to start a bit of a pit. When they played up at my school a few months back the 30 people that were there danced their hearts out. It was excellent either way though. Any obscure movies that feature what is called the "wilhelm scream"? I found it in G.I.Joe The Movie. It's all over every Star Wars movie, too. My score's for the Fabians putting it up for A Wilhelm Scream Would have been more cool if Guttermouth was one of the support bands. Stretch Arm Strong is one of the best hardcore bands there is. I'm surprised people who like Rise Against have trouble getting into SAS. Also Chris does that for every show they play, I don't see why it's such a bad thing. You should definitely check out either Rituals of Life or Tranmission Revolution, if you have never heard either album. This score is for A Wilhelm Scream. Invalid is the best band ever!!! I don't acctually know this but i thought they needed some love after the thrashing they took in this review. Invalid is the best band ever!!! I don't acctually know this but i thought they needed some love after the thrashing they took in this review. A Wilhelm Scream is hands down the best "new" band out in years.. even though they've been around since like 94 or something. Stretch Arm Strong's singer may tell people to get moving around, but at least that band stays clear of tough-guy-hardcore posturing. I'd rather hear stuff about unity than "BRING IT MOTHERFUCKER" I'm a fan of Rise Against but don't you think it's funny that they rip on the Warped Tour yet you can still find them on the lineup? Thoughts: Stretch Arm Strong own your sorry ass "ra's guitarist really sux and he's really creepy at the merch tabel" anyone else here huge simiilarites between Strung Out and Wilhelm Scream ra's guitarist really sux and he's really creepy at the merch tabel I remember not liking AWS when the review was posted with links to the mp3s and i couldnt remember why, so i found the mp3s and my opinions still stand. Kid Dynamite vocals, mixed with Thrice guitar work, with just okay melodies. Just okay but the guys vocals on mp3 are so weak(the thing i dont like about KD actually and why i think Paint it Black rips all other Dr. Dan projects) How could you be posting on a page like this and not heard of A Wilhelm Scream? The correct answer is "AWS kicked everyone's ass, including Rise Against (they stilll rock however)" the new guitarist for rise against fucking sucked... he just stood there and fucked up the songs. im honestly shocked and appalled that this man is paid to be a musician. i still enjoyed rise against (surprisingly, i kinda thought i wouldnt like em anymore), but that dude blew -- he couldnt handle the bad ass riffs that are dan precision "Score for Rise Against for being awesome and playing "Swing Life Away" live. I [...]" Score for Rise Against for being awesome and playing "Swing Life Away" live. I awww damn.... that hurts... that "fat guitar player" from Invalid is my cousin. I can't believe Rise Against didn't play Rumors of my Demise have been greatly exxagerated. I was at this show and it was damn good. A Wilhelm Scream blew my away and Rise Against was great as usual. My only problem with Rise Against is that the members of the band aside from the singer dont put out enough energy live. This score is for Wilhelm Scream/Rise Against/Stretch Arm Strong Stretch Armstrong aren't good live because they tell people what to do while they play??? Pull your head out of your ass dude, they blow Wilhelm Scream off the stage. I saw this show Wednesday at the Creepy Crawl in St. Louis, also a very small venue and the show was excellent. The only downside was Modern Day Hero, a local terrible band. I am also one of those people who had never heard A Wilhelm Scream before but I left with a cd and as a big fan. I had never heard Stretch Arm Strong either. I had heard OF them but never actualy heard them. They were pretty good although following A Wilhelm Scream is not an envious position. Heh, we in St. Louis got a nice little bonus after the show though as The Kings of Nuthin' performed. "Ahem, well technically(just kidding) I believe A Wilhelm Scream is from New Bedford or something. Hmmm there was supposed to be a plus sign between Rise Against and A Wilhelm Scream, but whatever. Stretch Arm Strong > Rise Against A Wilhelm Scream A Wilhelm Scream was amazing even with Trevor being a lil sloppy at that... still one of my favs and Rise Against was awesome as it being my 10 time seeing them. never will seeing that band get old. and they didnt play The Unraveling (the song). they did play Everchanging though. Great show i know its gonna be better in Chicago tomarrow. A Wilhelm Scream owned everyone's asses. Even Rise Against. and Rise Against was awesome...so put that in your pipe and smoke it. how the hell have you never heard Stretch Arm Strong? they've been one of the most consistently good hardcore bands of the past five years. Ahem, well technically(just kidding) I believe A Wilhelm Scream is from New Bedford or something. |
