"Hey mother fuckers you better run cause we will fucking kill you." Tired of the same ol' metalcore? Well apparently so are She Walks In Beauty. This is no where near your average metalcore. These guys keep it so fresh and interesting it has fully restored my faith in the hardcore/metal/metalcore scene, and given me something to listen to while at work and driving for the past couple of days. I have yet to grow tired of these songs. Being that it's only 4 songs total, it leaves me wanting more. With excellent sung/yelled melodies and actually good slow breakdowns (PTW watch out), this band is out to prove something. The two guitarists play so well off of each other...the heavy parts are in your face and more metal than Robo-cop. The soft parts are so well written and played, with singer Jake Luhrs switching from his usual low yell to actual singing...and SWIB do the soft parts just as well as their heavy parts, and better than other heavy bands with softer parts. My least favorite song is "Sincerely Yours (OMFG! n00b)"...and it's a great song. This is the most mediocre song on the E.P. with plenty chugga chugga squeal squeal. But, with the angelic harmony behind Jake's crushing yell at the end of the song, and other little things the guys throw in even keep this from sounding too trite or mediocre. The singer's voice is usually in it's deep yell, but the sung part and harmonies are excellent as well and really stand out from other bands. There are also plenty of well-placed gang vocals on here that keep everybody singing along. Another great thing about this band is their sense of humor. With song titles like "Sincerely Yours (OMFG! n00b)", "Welcome to Metal Country, Population: 5", and "Soundtrack To A Horror Movie", their merch including slap bracelets, and the bassist always performing in full basketball gear, they definitely have a sense of humor. This is the most original, talented, all around good hardcore/metalcore/whatever bands (band period for that matter) I've heard in a long time. If you like any kind of hardcore, check these guys out. They were good enough to play Scott Dempsey's last shows with Stretch Arm Strong, they're good enough for you. *reads first post at the bottom* i cant even begin to tell you how much these guys own, nor could i tell you about how these d00dz are worth your time and money. their show is full of energy, and its fun as hell. their breakdowns are completely ridiculous, and mixed in with all the tech metal shit its jsut awesome. these dudes are all heart All I have to say is that they have the best live show I've ver seen. I was at the last show with SCott Dempsey, and I've seen them other times in augusta amd olumbia, and they are so sick its ridiculous. Their e.p. doesn't do them justice, and their new shit is way sicker anyways. Jump on the SWIB bandwagon. all of you naysayers, just go watch a swib show Listen, if you guys wanna talk shit about a band, talk shit about a band that is signed, going on major tours, and making asses of money, not a band full of fucking awesome kids that love what they're doing and don't give a fuck what other anonymous douchebags have to say about them. I don't just say this because I love these kids and the band, I say this because I think you're tired negative attitudes are fucking old and played out. Find something new to complain about because tastes in music are all relative. I've had my say and if you have a problem with my opinion come talk it up with me. Yea, but like i said.....i sent this in a while ago. and actually they're just on hiatus. You know these guys have just broken up, right? Yea.....the unmixed songs are pretty bad....due to the umixed part. But I sent this in a LONG time ago, when they still had the stuff off of this e.p. up on the hxcmp3 site. Sorry bout that.....not my fault. this band might damn well be incredible, but you would never know it by listening to those unmixed tracks on hxcmp3. i definately need to check the cd out though These guys went to school with my best friend. He said his friends who were hardcore then had a game where if you brought Jake to a party you got a letter, kind of like in HORSE. Whenever somebody brought Jake around four times, they got JAKE and they weren't allowed to hang out anymore. At least that's what I've heard, and it makes me laugh |
