So, according to the press release, Route 215 is rather big internationally. It seems as though these East London lads garnered their fame, however, through American-styled pop-punk with the very slight dosage of power pop.

"Gtt" opens the band's fourth release, Steal Your Soul With Rock 'n Roll, very promisingly as a fast-paced, Mr. T Experience-ish number, but it's probably the best track on an overall weak and dragging full-length that doesn't deliver on its assuring title. A couple tracks later, however, a title delivers exactly what it promises: "The Weezer Song" apes the geek rock pioneers trait for trait, whether it be the 50s-styled but grungy power chords, the Cuomo-esque yelp, or even the "drop my date off at her house and contemplate what to do next" situation. "Ghost Rock" sounds like a choice cut from the Josie & the Pussycats soundtrack.

Also, the lead vocalist reminds me of what Tim Armstrong would sound like if he was young and drugfree.

Sorry for outright blowing your mind right there.

In short, there's a couple tracks that pass for fun and catchy albeit adolescent times, but this style gets real old real quick, and letting it run for forty-five minutes doesn't help it a whole lot either.

Oh, and yes, since you asked - this is quite possibly the worst cover art ever.

I really like these guys because they just don't give a fuck... always getting into trouble from what I've seen. I spoke to one of them at a show once and he said something like "we don't care about music we only care about what we look like, girls and money and if that winds you up... go fuck yourself'' that's when I fell in love with 215. also thats the old artwork that was never released?! the one here in the shops is MUCH hotter!

    Wow.

I gave "Push Me" a good 10 seconds before closing the site, clearing my entire cache folder (as well as my history) and putting on Yanni just to cleanse my palette.

I don't know why I waste my time with this shitty pretentious "punk" shit anymore. I see little kids in the mall that look like these guys...all aboard for the bandwagon....next stop, shitty music devoid of any true meaning or substance!

And they look like they spend more time getting their image right than the time they put into recording (not that the recording sounds bad, it sounds very good quality)

Could be a little better if the singer didn't sing like he does.

    Nigger music.

    perry67 (September 9, 2004)

Yes, the cover is better than the music.

    opivykid (September 9, 2004)

    I'd hit it. Many times.

the cover art should include the girl's ass and a thong hanging out. that image is over used but is still great.

but the score is for the cover art. i still like it.

    Nice name drop, anonymous.

    A typical punknews review

Too bad you didn't realize that about 58% of my reviews give a score of three stars and up.

    Shut up, DICK!

A typical punknews review; someone should tell these reviewers that it's actually OK to like a record...

These guys are friends of mine, but it's a fucking cool record anyway. It's pretentious-free, not serious at all and full of melody. I think they sold thousands and thousands of records in japan as well. Check these guys out, they're far better than the review suggests.

"If you buy music for the chick on the album cover... please, go buy a fucking cher album."

dude... cher looks like a latter-day michael jackson, who looks like a skull.

Are you saying you find Cher attractive?

If you buy music for the chick on the album cover... please, go buy a fucking cher album.

How is that the worst cover art ever? I love it! Like their website says, their a "slutty" band. What a positive way to describe yourself! Anyway, this review could have had a lot more info about the other songs. Why is its running nearly 50 minutes a drag? I love their preview song, but maybe that's why they only have one for preview. Anyway, i'd also like to know who that chick is, and if more pics are in the packaging.

    Marlon (September 7, 2004)

Does the packaging come with more picture of that chick?

    Anonymous (September 7, 2004)

    Oh man that's so hot.
