The Weakerthans / Trailers / The Paperbackslive in Montreal (2004)Epitaph Records Reviewer Rating: Contributed by: Punkass83 (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on October 12th 2004
The first band, which was completely new to me, was called The Paperbacks, from Winnipeg I believe. They played about a half hour of decent indie-rockish type music. Not really my cup of tea but I guess they got the mood going and quite a few people seemed to be appreciating them. The singer had this funny way of moving around on stage which I thought was kind of weird and repetitive but then again, I don’t really care how the damn guy moves around if he knows how to play music right? So basically, I didn’t really know what to expect and even though I haven’t bought their music, I still think they put on a pretty good performance.

Check out the Paperbacks CD, "An Episode Of Sparrows". JTB are uber-tres-inconsistent. 'chinatown' is their best song, though. half the songs on ORD suck. Only pussies would argue which band is better between JTB and the Weakerthans. Personally I like both. So piss off. JTB is a far more consistent band than the Weakerblands who, aside from a few good songs here and there, don't have a reputable catalog of songs. the weakerthans are greaterthan jets to brazil Chinatown is a good track. Orange Rhyming Dictionary is a great album. But other than that Jets to Brazil pretty much suck. The Weakerthans keep getting better though. girlfriends never have good taste in music Everyone who posted a Chinatown comment below me should kill themselves. Now. My name is a indie band! everyone like me becuase I have no friends in real life....im such a pathetic fucking loser. Yeah, because someone with the username "Chinatown" (named after the definitive indie rock song) must surely enjoys listening to major label garbage. | Features
