I hate reviewing compilations. So I'll highlight the good tracks. And that will be it.

Oh wait, there aren't any! What we have here is a load of bands who apparently worship the mid-90s Hopeless roster. It all sounds the same with four chords and vocal harmonies, and, well, you know the bill. The best tracks are from The Paperbacks, who, somehow, got on Newest Industry sounding like a watered-down version of The Weakerthans. And trust me, they aren't that great. Ughh...this all sounds the same.

The other decent band on here is I Excuse, which sound like a 90s punk band with attitude, you know, some actual substance to their music and vocals. And the songs aren't about girls. The worst band on here is Bedford Falls, hands down, who sound like a high school band. You know, the one a guy you knew played guitar in, so you went to a few shows just to be nice but really you were ridiculing them the entire time.

Surprisingly enough, the song "Bedord Falls" by The Paperbacks is on here, and is a toe-tapping poppy little song. Something you don't mind having in the background while at a coffee shop or something. By all means, it's nothing you should buy, or even attempt to go listen to, but if you stumble upon it, I guarantee it won't make you want to kill yourself.

So there you have it folks, 27 tracks of pure, unadulterated poop. I guess it's what you can expect from a label who stole their font from Swingin' Utters.

That's awesome! I'm actually laughing out loud at my own stupidity. Glad you can take it, and don't whine like your listeners. Seriously, man, you're the only one who's successfully ZINGED me to the point of me admitting publicly to being ZINGED.

Kudos man, and keep it coming.

This score is for making me look like the pretentious un-informed ass that I truly am.

    Seriously, that is fucking genius.

And at least they stole the font from the 'Du and not, say, Akimbo.

"Yeah, I know it's not Swingin' Udders but Husker Du, I just dropped the ball."

Are you sure? Because the fact that Newest Industry is also Husker Du song, plus the umlauts over the u should have tipped you off. And since it's Utters and not Udders I'm not sure you know what you're talking about. Score's for the review.

    My Score:

For my money, I listen to the song as well as the lyrics.
The Paperbacks are head and shoulders above the flock.
They don't fit the mold of the same old schlock, how punk is that? ...for the more thoughtful set.

    My Score:

come on, everyone, it's quite simple. they send the shittiest records that nobody wants to review to the shittiest staff reviewer that nobody wants to read. that way the entire shitfest gets contained on one page that most people won't see anyway. this way it keeps jesse busy reviewing shitpiles instead of cluing us in on the punk stylings of thelonius monk and n.w.a.

To midipunkbastard: that doesn't mean anything. News is news, as this is a non-biased webpage, anything can have it's own news posting logo. Just click the "Topics" link at the top of the page. That'll bring up every logo that Punknews uses.

And......... there's MP3's of almost all the bands on the compilation on our website :

    Thanks!

So surely you must all be wondering, "where the hell can I get this incredible compilation?" right? Well if you're in The America (didn't you guys steal your logo from France? Or was it Finland? Haha) go to : http://www.noidearecords.com and get it for 4 whole dollars!!! That is cheap, especially for people outside of the US, due to the current exchange rate.

Also, none of the bands sound like Heckle, The Nobodys, Falling Sickness, Digger or Mustard Plug.

    Thanks!

"Just remember: Scott sent me stuff that was so bad that nobody else would want to review it."

then why the fuck does newest indüstry have its own logo for newsposts? because aubin, adam and brain (and back then scott) wanted to mark the unworthy posts?

bytheway, for everyone: the paperbacks are fucking boring. really. worst band on newest indüstry.

Jesse gets all the shitty reviews because it allows him to feel better about himself. At least then he realizes he's not the only pathetic being on the planet.

It's not just a streak, look at my back catalog. How many times do I have to explain that if it got sent to me, it was probably because it was so shitty that no one else would want to review it?

    Note to MonkDave:

I like TCTC because in comparison to the albums I got from other bands it seemed like something amazing. I haven't listened to that CD since I reviewed it. My musical tastes range from The Stooges and MC5 to Public Enemy and N.W.A. to Blonde Redhead and Liars to John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk. That's actually a better representation of my musical tastes than reviews on Punknews.

    My Score:

Fuck, at least you can go hock the shitty CD's when you are done "reviewing" them. You gotta be able to get at least $3 for a regular cd and maybe $1 for a comp like this...

That has got to be pretty lucrative, cause it seems that every band that I can't stand is mad popular with you kids.

I think this is a fucking great review, I'm not sad. I used to run a 'zine, I destroyed many a record in my time... plus, the reviewer like The "Cunting" Cooper Temple Clause (as they are known as over here) so it's not like he's really on the same page as any of the bands on our label anyway. Obviously "The Sound's Wrong" for Jesse! Boom boom.

Fuck, my bad. I wasn't thinking about the Husker Du thing. Yeah, I know it's not Swingin' Udders but Husker Du, I just dropped the ball. My bad, my bad. I hate comps. I Excuse sounds nothing like D4. Trust me. I have legitimate copies of every D4 album. Just remember: Scott sent me stuff that was so bad that nobody else would want to review it.

An example of why this site needs to assign a guy to specifically review this type of stuff.

Uhhh you get sent stuff to review, you have to review it... It's not some option. It's not like he picked this up by choice.

While I do agree that FortyMinutesWest, or someone more oriented to melodic-hardcore would offer a better review, you can't blame a reviewer for having an honest opinion.

Jesse you are a fuckin' joke. Newest Industry is a Fucking amazing label, run by amazing people, with an amazing roster. Black Cougar Shock Unit(gainsville), the Phoenix Foundation (husker du reincarnated), I Excuse (Japanese guys playing a Leatherface/D4 hybrid), Annalise (great mod-punk)! And tons of other great stuff! I fully recommend this Comp. Get your head out of your ass!
